AFL Games of November 15


PEORIA 3, SCOTTSDALE 2 IN PEORIA

Twins:  Nate Roberts was 0-for-3 with a walk.
Game summary:  Peoria scored two in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead.  Scottsdale scored single runs in the seventh and ninth and got the tying run on base with none out in the ninth, but did not advance him past first.
Scottsdale:  Zach Nuding (Yankees) allowed an unearned run on three hits and no walks in four innings.  Kaleb Cowart (Angels) hit a home run.
Peoria:  Robbie Erlin (San Diego) struck out six in five shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Zach Collier (Philadelphia) was 2-for-2, scoring once and driving in one.

PHOENIX 8, MESA 3 IN MESA

Game summary:  A two-run single by Max Stassi (Oakland) gave Phoenix a 3-1 lead in the third.  Mesa closed to 3-2, but Phoenix scored in each of innings five through eight to gradually get control of the game.
Phoenix:  Kyle Jensen (Miami) was 2-for-5 with a double and a homer, scoring twice.  Kevin Kiermaier (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.
Mesa:  Brian Ward (Baltimore) was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

SALT RIVER 7, SURPRISE 3 IN SURPRISE

Game summary:  Salt River scored four runs in the first inning on a Kent Matthes (Colorado) grand slam.  Surprise closed to 5-3 after seven, but Salt River scored two more in the eighth on a Jason Martinson (Washington) pinch-hit home run.
Salt River:  Lars Davis (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Carlos Sanchez (White Sox) was 2-for-5 and scored once.
Surprise:  Hanser Alberto (Texas) was 4-for-4 and scored twice.  Mike O’Neill (St. Louis) was 2-for-4.

NOTE

Peoria will play Salt River in Scottsdale on Saturday at 2:10 Central time for the AFL championship.
