Games of October 30

Some good pitching performances for the Twins.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

Twins:  LaMonte Wade was 1-for-4 with a triple and a walk.  Chris Paul was 0-for-4.  Sean Miller was 1-for-4.  Ryan Eades struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.
SURPRISE 6, PEORIA 3 IN PEORIA
Nick Dini's (Kansas City) RBI single broke a 2-2 tie and Surprise added two in the seventh and one in the eighth.  Andrew Knizner (St. Louis) was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Dini was 3-for-4.  Max Povse (Seattle) struck out five in five innings for Peoria, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks.
MESA 8, SALT RIVER 4 IN SALT RIVER
Leading 3-2 after five, Mesa scored four in the seventh to take control of the game.  Sheldon Neuse (Oakland) hit a three-run homer, his third.  For Salt River, Brian Mundell (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a home run and Steve Wilkerson (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with a home run and a double.
GLENDALE 3, SCOTTSDALE 2 IN GLENDALE
Glendale scored all three of their runs in the fourth and it was barely enough.  Scottsdale had the tying run on second when the game ended.  Will Smith (Dodgers) hit a two-run homer.  Mitch Keller (Pittsburgh) pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks while striking out two.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Yohan Pino (Aragua) pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit while striking out one, to get the save.  Leonardo Reginatto (Margarita) was 1-for-4 with a double.  Anthony Marzi (Margarita) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks with one strikeout.
ARAGUA 3, MARGARITA 2 IN ARAGUA
Aragua trailed 3-0 after five.  In the sixth, however, Alberto Callaspo delivered a two-run single to tie it and Jose Vargas drove in the go-ahead run with a double.  Margarita put runners on first and third with two out in the eighth but did not get a man on base after that.  Miguel Mendez was 2-for-3.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

No games scheduled.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.
LICEY 5, ESCOGIDO 3 IN ESCOGIDO
Licey got all of their runs in the first two innings, scoring three in the first and two in the second.  Engel Beltre was 3-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Jose Marmolejos hit a three-run homer, his second.  Onelki Garcia struck out nine in 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk.

Twins:  Daniel Palka (Magallanes) was 1-for-4 with a double.  Leonardo Reginatto (Margarita) was 1-for-4.
LA GUAIRA 6, MAGALLANES 5 IN LA GUAIRA
La Guaira led 4-1 after one, built a 6-2 lead after four, then held on as Magallanes had the tying run on base in both the eighth and the ninth.  Nate Orf was 3-for-4.  Isaias Tejeda was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Andres Blanco hit a home run for Magallanes, his second.
LARA 9, ANZOATEGUI 4 IN ANZOATEGUI
Lara scored five in the first, had their lead cut to 5-4, then scored three in the ninth to put the game out of reach.  Chuck Taylor was 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs.  Deiner Lopez was 3-for-5 with a double.  Luis Domoromo was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run (his second), driving in four.
ARAGUA 4, MARGARITA 3 IN ARAGUA
Aragua scored three in the second and led the rest of the way, but Margarita had the tying run on second in the seventh and eighth.  Alberto Callaspo was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Carlos Garay was 3-for-4.  Jose Vargas hit a home run, his ninth.

Rained out.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.
MAZATLAN 12, JALISCO 8 IN JALISCO
Jalisco led 3-0, 4-3, and 7-6, but when Mazatlan scored four in the fourth to go up 10-7 they stayed ahead.  Garin Cecchini was 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, driving in three.  Jose Aguilar was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second, and scored four times.  Asael Sanchez was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.  For Jalisco, Manny Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with a home run, his fourth.  Chris Colabello was 1-for-3 with a home run and two walks, scoring three times.  Agustin Murillo hit a home run, his third.
LOS MOCHIS 6, HERMOSILLO 4 IN LOS MOCHIS
Los Mochis led 5-1 after four, had the lead cut to 5-4, then scored an insurance run in the sixth.  Yadir Drake was 2-for-3 with a home run, his second.  Noel Cuevas hit a three-run homer.  Fernando Perez was 2-for-5 with a home run (his second) for Hermosillo.
NAVOJOA 5, CULIACAN 0 IN CULIACAN
Navojoa scored two in the third, two in the eighth, and one in the ninth.  Alan Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a home run (his third) and three RBIs.  Tyler Kane pitched six shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out two.  Edgar Gonzalez pitched six innings for Culiacan, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four.
MEXICALI 3, OBREGON 1 IN OBREGON
All the runs were scored in the third inning.  Sergio Mitre pitched 3.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk while striking out one.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Carlos Paulino (Gigantes) was 0-for-3.
LICEY 9, AGUILAS 7 IN LICEY
Licey scored five in the second and four in the third to take a 9-0 lead.  The Aguilas closed to 9-7 in the ninth but did not get the tying run on base.  Julio Borbon was 3-for-5 with a double.  Yamaico Navarro was 3-for-5 with three RBIs.  Engel Beltre was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs.  Alfredo Marte was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double for the Aguilas.  Ronny Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with a double for the Aguilas.
GIGANTES 2, ESCOGIDO 1 AT GIGANTES
The Gigantes scored two in the first and made it hold up, as Escogido did not get on the board until the ninth.  Paul Clemens struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up no hits and two walks.  Willy Garcia hit a home run for Escogido.  Kelvin Marte struck out six in 5.1 innings for Escogido, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks.
ORIENTE 6, ESTE 2 IN ORIENTE
Oriente scored two in the third to break a 1-1 tie and added two in the sixth to put the game out of reach.  Gustavo Nunez was 3-for-5.  Junior Lake was 2-for-5 with a home run, his second.  Jonathan Galvez hit a home run for Este.

All the Twins action was in the Venezuelan League.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

Twins:  None, so it's no Surprise their team lost.
SCOTTSDALE 11, SURPRISE 3 IN SURPRISE
Scottsdale took an early lead with three in the second and put the game out of reach with four in the sixth.  Brantley Bell (Cincinnati) was 4-for-5 with a double.  Billy McKinney (Yankees) was 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs.  Aramis Garcia (San Francisco) hit a home run.  Justus Sheffield (Yankees) struck out six in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks.  Yanio Perez (Texas) and Luis La O (Texas) each homered for Surprise, the second for each.
MESA 9, GLENDALE 6 IN MESA
Mesa scored two in the first, but fell behind 6-2 going to the bottom of the eighth.  They then scored seven times, with the key hit a three-run triple by Cam Gibson (Detroit) that broke a 6-6 tie.  Gibson was 2-for-4 and also had a double.  A. J. Simcox (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.  Matt Beaty (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his first two of the season), three runs, and three RBIs to lead Glendale.  Edgar Cabral (Philadelphia) was 3-for-4 with a double for Glendale.
PEORIA 10, SALT RIVER 4 IN SALT RIVER
Peoria scored three in the first and six in the fourth, building a 9-0 lead.  Austin Riley (Atlanta) was 1-for-3 with a home run (his third) and two walks, driving in four.  Max Fried (Atlanta) pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  His ERA is 0.47 in 19 innings.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Leonardo Reginatto (Margarita) was 2-for-4.  Yohan Pino (Aragua) retired all four men he faced.  Daniel Palka (Magallanes) was 1-for-4.
LA GUAIRA 5, MARGARITA 1 IN LA GUAIRA
La Guaira got three in the third and two in the seventh.  Margarita did not get on the board until the eighth.  Alex Nunez was 3-for-4 with a double.  Jonathan Albaledejo pitched five shutout innings, giving up four hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
ARAGUA 9, MAGALLANES 2 IN MAGALLANES
Aragua led by just 3-2 through five but scored two in the seventh and four in the ninth to put the game out of reach.  Jose Vargas hit a three-run homer, his eighth.  Osniel Madera was 2-for-5 with two doubles.  Guillermo Moscoso pitched five innings, giving up two unearned runs on three hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
LARA 14, ANZOATEGUI 1 IN ANZOATEGUI
It was 2-0 through four, but Lara scored five in the fifth and five more in the sixth.  Henry Urrutia was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a walk, scoring three times.  Jose Montero was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Elvis Escobar was 3-for-6 with a double.  Yojhan Quevedo was 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs.  Adam Law was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk, scoring three times and driving in four.  Chuck Taylor was 2-for-3 with a triple and two walks, scoring three times.  Nestor Molina pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on eight hits and four walks with two strikeouts.
CARACAS 8, ZULIA 5 IN ZULIA
Caracas scored three in the sixth to break a 5-5 tie.  Henry Alejandro Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with a double.  Maikol Gonzalez was 3-for-5.  David Vidal hit a three-run homer, his fifth, for Zulia.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.
JALISCO 6, MAZATLAN 1 IN JALISCO
Jalisco scored five in the third to take a 5-0 lead and controlled the game.  Manny Rodriguez hit a grand slam, his third home run of the season.  Manuel Al Flores pitched 4.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
LOS MOCHIS 6, HERMOSILLO 3 IN LOS MOCHIS (13 INNINGS)
Leandro Castro hit a three-run walkoff homer with one out in the thirteenth.  Yadir Drake was 3-for-6 with a double and three runs.  Castro was 2-for-6 with four RBIs.  Akeem Bostick struck out six in five innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks.  Hunter Dozier hit a home run (his fourth) for Hermosillo.  Joshua Smith pitched five innings for Hermosillo, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks with one strikeout.
CULIACAN 1, NAVOJOA 0 IN CULIACAN
Ali Solis' RBI single in the fifth produced the game's only run.  Aldo Montes pitched six shutout innings, giving up two hits and one walk while striking out five.  Zack Dodson pitched six innings for Navojoa, giving up one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out three.
MEXICALI 5, OBREGON 4 IN OBREGON
Mexicali led 5-1 after five and held on.  Obregon had men on second and third with one out in the ninth, but a strikeout and a pop up ended the game.  Ramon Rios was 2-for-4.  Javier Solano pitched six innings for Mexicali, giving up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.
ESTE 3, GIGANTES 1 IN ESTE
Jose Mateo's RBI triple in the seventh broke a 1-1 tie and he scored an insurance run on a sacrifice fly.  Paolo Espino pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out five.  Melvie Mercedes was 3-for-4 to lead the Gigantes.  Adonis Rosa pitched four shutout innings for the Gigantes, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out two.
ORIENTE 7, AGUILAS 5 AT AGUILAS
Oriente scored four in the sixth to break a 5-5 tie.  Junior Lake was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs.  Juan Perez was 3-for-5 with a home run for the Aguilas.  Alfredo Marte was 3-for-4 with a walk for the Aguilas.

Games of October 27

Six Twins played in the AFL yesterday.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

Twins:  Chris Paul was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  LaMonte Wade was 1-for-3.  Andrew Vasquez struck out all five batters he faced, striking out one.  Tyler Jay pitched a scoreless inning, giving up no hits and no walks.  Tom Hackimer struck out two in one inning, but gave up two runs on one hit and four walks.  Ryan Eades pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.
SCOTTSDALE 6, SURPRISE 5 IN SCOTTSDALE
A walk, a single, and three more walks resulted in two runs for Scottsdale in the seventh, turning a 5-4 deficit into a 6-5 win.  Luis Guillorme (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Mickey Jannis (Mets) struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks.
MESA 5, GLENDALE 1 IN GLENDALE
Mesa got two in the first and two in the third to build a 4-0 lead.  Chancer Burks (Cubs) and A. J. Simcox (Detroit) were each 2-for-4 with two doubles.  Logan Shore (Oakland) pitched four innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks with three strikeouts.  Bobby Bradley (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, his second, to lead Glendale.
PEORIA 9, SALT RIVER 8 IN PEORIA
Peoria led 6-0 and 8-1 but needed a Josh Naylor (San Diego) home run in the eighth to break an 8-8 tie.  Naylor was 4-for-5 with a double in addition to his third home run.  Ronald Acuna (Atlanta) was 3-for-5 with two home runs, his second and third, and scored three times.  T. J. Zeuch (Toronto) pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Corey Ray (Milwaukee) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs for Salt River.  Rodrigo Vigil (Miami) was 3-for-4 with a double.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Leonardo Reginatto (Margarita) was 2-for-5.  Daniel Palka (Magallanes) was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Edwar Colina (Magallanes) retired the only man he faced.
MARGARITA 9, LA GUAIRA 1 IN LA GUAIRA
Margarita scored three in the second and three in the third to take a 6-0 lead.  David Rodriguez was 4-for-5 with four RBIs.  Rudy Flores was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a walk.  Mauricio Ramos was 3-for-5 with a double and scored three times.  Jay Gause pitched five innings, giving up just one run on eight hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Omar Carrizales was 3-for-5 with a double to lead La Guaira.
ANZOATEGUI 2, LARA 1 IN ANZOATEGUI
Anzoategui scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead that held up the rest of the game.  Anzoategui had 15 hits but stranded 14 runners.  Edwin Garcia and Niuman Romero were each 3-for-4.  Kelvin De La Cruz pitched seven innings, giving up one run on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
MAGALLANES 4, CARACAS 1 IN MAGALLANES
Caracas scored its lone run in the first.  Magallanes came back with single runs in the first, third, fifth, and sixth.  Jesus Valdez was 2-for-3 with a home run, his sixth.  Frankie De La Cruz pitched six innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
ARAGUA 2, ZULIA 0 IN ARAGUA
Aragua scored single runs in the third and seventh.  Alberto Callaspo was 3-for-4 with a walk.  Freddy Garcia (remember him?) struck out five in 4.2 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and a walk.  William Oliver pitched 4.1 innings for Zulia, giving up one run on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.
MAZATLAN 9, JALISCO 8 IN JALISCO
Trailing 8-5, Mazatlan scored four runs in the seventh to take the lead to stay.  Jeremias Pineda singled home the go-ahead run.  Asael Sanchez was 3-for-5 with two doubles.  Pineda was 3-for-5.  Carlos Munoz was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs.  Manny Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second) and a double to lead Jalisco.  Carlos Figueroa was 3-for-4 with a double.
HERMOSILLO 8, LOS MOCHIS 5 IN LOS MOCHIS
Hermosillo led 4-0 in the fourth but trailed 5-4 going to the ninth.  A four-run ninth inning, highlighted by a three-run homer by Domonic Brown, won the game.  Jorge Flores was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Fernando Perez was 3-for-5.  Brown was 2-for-5 and the home run was his second.  Bryce Brentz hit a home run, his fourth in two games and fifth on the season.  Olmo Rosario hit a home run, his second, to lead Los Mochis.
CULIACAN 1, NAVOJOA 0 IN CULIACAN
A passed ball brought home a run in the first inning and it was enough.  Daniel Rodriguez pitched 8.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and no walks with six strikeouts.  Raul Carrillo pitched six innings for Navojoa, giving up an unearned run on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  Rodriguez had pitched eight perfect innings before allowing a single to lead off the ninth.
OBREGON 5, MEXICALI 2 IN OBREGON
Leo Heras' two-run single in the second gave Obregon a lead they would keep the rest of the game.  Heras was 2-for-3 with two walks.  Arturo Lopez pitched six innings, giving up two unearned runs on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Chris Roberson was 3-for-5 to lead Mexicali.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Carlos Paulino (Gigantes) was 2-for-4.
ORIENTE 4, LICEY 1 IN LICEY
Oriente scored single runs in the second, fourth, fifth, and ninth to build a 4-0 lead.  Scott Copeland struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.
GIGANTES 7, AGUILAS 5 AT GIGANTES
Moises Sierra hit a three-run double in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie.  Eloy Jimenez hit his third home run, Aderlin Rodriguez hit his second, and Rosell Herrera hit his first.  Edwin Espinal was 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Aguilas.
ESTE 2, ESCOGIDO 1 IN ESTE
Este scored both of its runs in the seventh, overcoming a 1-0 deficit.  Cesar Puello singled home the go-ahead run.  Elih Villanueva pitched 3.2 innings, giving up an unearned run on six hits and two walks with one strikeout.  Mike Mayers struck out nine in five shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

GLENDALE 10, SURPRISE 5 IN SURPRISE
Surprise scored two in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead, but Glendale then scored ten unanswered runs before Surprise added three in the ninth.  Kevin Kramer (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-5 with a home run, his second.  Seby Zevala (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.  Danny Mendick (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.  Miller was 3-for-3 with a walk to lead Surprise.  Burch Smith (Tampa Bay) struck out six in four shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk.
PEORIA 19, MESA 4 IN PEORIA
Mesa led 4-0 after two and a half.  Peoria then had three big innings, scoring five in the third, seven in the sixth, and five in the seventh.  They also got two in the eighth.  Austin Riley (Atlanta) hit for the cycle, going 4-for-6.  The home run was his second--he scored three times and drove in five.  Max Pentecost (Toronto) was 4-for-6 with a home run and a double, driving in three.  Ronald Acuna (Atlanta) was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk and scored four times.  Jonathan Davis (Toronto) was 2-for-6 with a double and four runs.  Franmil Reyes (San Diego) had three RBIs.  Mesa made five errors, leading to ten unearned runs for Peoria.
SALT RIVER 4, SCOTTSDALE 4 IN SCOTTSDALE (11 INNINGS)
It was tied 3-3 after nine, with each team scoring once in the tenth.  They used the goofy "start with a man on second" rule, but the game ended up in a tie anyway.  Yonathan Daza (Colorado) was 2-for-4 for Salt River.  Zach Jemiola (Colorado) pitched five innings for Salt River, giving up one run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Kevin Kaczmarski (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a home run and a double for Scottsdale.  Tomas Nido (Mets) was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks for Scottsdale.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Daniel Palka (Magallanes) was 1-for-4.
CARACAS 4, LARA 1 IN CARACAS
Caracas scored in the first inning and built a 4-0 lead.  Wilfredo Tovar was 2-for-4 with a double.  Luis Diaz struck out six in five innings, giving up three hits and a walk.
ANZOATEGUI 6, LA GUAIRA 5 IN ANZOATEGUI
Trailing 5-4 going to the bottom of the ninth, Anzoategui got an RBI single from Balbino Fuenmayor to tie the game and an RBI single from Willians Astudillo to win it.  Astudillo and Juan Hernandez were each 3-for-5.  Cesar Valera was 3-for-4.
ZULIA 4, ARAGUA 3 IN ZULIA
Jose Vargas homered in the top of the eighth to give Aragua a 3-2 lead, but David Vidal hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to swing the game to Zulia.  It was Vidal's fourth home run of the season.  Jairo Perez also homered.  Reiner Roibal pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  Vargas' homer was his seventh.  Robert Zarate struck out seven in five innings for Aragua, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.
MARGARITA 6, MAGALLANES 2 IN MAGALLANES
It was tied 2-2 after seven, but Margarita scored two in the eighth and two more in the ninth.  Cade Gotta was 3-for-5.  Logan Darnell pitched 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

JALISCO 3, MEXICALI 2 IN JALISCO
Adan Munoz singled in a run in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie.  Chris Colabello was 3-for-4.  Agustin Murillo hit a home run, his second.  Jesus Cruz pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks with three strikeouts.  Walter Ibarra was 2-for-4 with a home run, his third, to lead Mexicali.  Alex Delgado pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on six hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
LOS MOCHIS 7, OBREGON 2 IN LOS MOCHIS
Los Mochis scored two in the first and built a 7-0 lead through four, with Obregon not getting on the board until the ninth.  Ramon Urias was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Tomas Solis pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
HERMOSILLO 17, CULIACAN 4 IN HERMOSILLO
Hermosillo scored five in the first and never looked back.  Bryce Brentz was 4-for-6 with three home runs, giving him four on the season.  He scored four times and drove in six.  Jose Cardona was 5-for-5 with two doubles, scoring three times.  Chandler Shepherd struck out seven in 5.2 innings, giving up three hits and a walk.  Marco Guzman was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for Culiacan.
NAVOJOA 9, MAZATLAN 5 IN NAVOJOA

SURPRISE 6, GLENDALE 4 IN GLENDALE
Surprise scored four in the eighth to go ahead 6-1, then held off a ninth-inning Glendale rally that saw them bring the tying run to the plate.  Oscar Mercado (St. Louis) and Brandon Lowe (Tampa Bay) were each 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Benton Moss (Tampa Bay) struck out three in three shutout innings of relief, giving up five hits.  For Glendale, Tyler Krieger (Cleveland) was 3-for-4 with a double and Francisco Mejia (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.
MESA 6, PEORIA 3 IN MESA
Ian Rice (Cubs) hit a three-run double in the fourth that gave Mesa a 5-1 lead.  Rice was 2-for-4.  Taylor Gushue (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Spencer Trumbull (Detroit) pitched four innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
SALT RIVER 8, SCOTTSDALE 2 IN SALT RIVER
Yonathan Daza's (Colorado) two-run double in the third gave Salt River a 4-1 lead and the lead was never less than three.  Victor Reyes (Arizona) was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk.  Peter Mooney (Miami) was 3-for-3 with a walk.  Daza was 3-for-5 with a double and scored three times.  Thairo Estrada (Yankees) was 4-for-5 to lead Scottsdale.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Leonardo Reginatto (Margarita) was a combined 4-for-6 with two double and four RBIs.  Anthony Marzi (Margarita) started and pitched four shutout innings, giving up five hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Anderson Munoz (Zulia) pitched a third of an inning, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and two walks with four strikeouts.  Daniel Palka (Magallanes) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Edwar Colina (Magallanes) pitched a perfect inning.  Yohan Pino (Aragua) pitched three shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks while striking out two.
MARGARITA 16, ZULIA 0 IN ZULIA (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)
Margarita scored two in the second, six in the fourth, and eight in the fifth.  Francisco Diaz was 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, and three RBIs.  Reginatto was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.  Cade Gotta was 2-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs.  Rudy Flores was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored three times.  Marzi pitched four shutout innings, giving up five hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
MARGARITA 2, ZULIA 0 IN ZULIA (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)
It's hard to score fourteen fewer runs and still win, but it's easier when your opponent scores zero.  Both Margarita runs came in the seventh.  Omar Poveda pitched 4.1 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and a walk while striking out four.  Edgar De La Rosa struck out four in four shutout innings for Zulia, giving up two hits and no walks.
MAGALLANES 6, CARACAS 3 IN CARACAS
Magallanes scored two in each of the second, fifth, and seventh, building a 6-0 lead before Caracas got on the board.  Andres Blanco was 3-for-5.  Jesus Valdez was 2-for-4 with two home runs, his fourth and fifth, driving in four.  Alberth Martinez hit a two-run homer, his third.  John Lamb pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and three walks with one strikeout.  Jesus Guzman was 2-for-2 with a home run and two walks for Caracas.
ANZOATEGUI 3, LA GUAIRA 2 IN ANZOATEGUI
Denis Phipps' RBI single in the eighth broke a 2-2 tie.  Edwin Garcia was 3-for-4 with a double.  Danry Vasquez was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk to lead La Guaira.  Tommy Collier pitched six innings for La Guaira, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
ARAGUA 1, LARA 0 IN LARA
Jose Vargas singled home the game's only run in the sixth.  Alberto Callaspo was 2-for-4 with a double.  Misael Siverio pitched five shutout innings, giving up six hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Edson Garcia's sacrifice fly brought home the winning run in the eighth.  Brock Stassi was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Adrian Guzman pitched 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks with three strikeouts.  Ramon Rios was 4-for-4 with a double to lead Mexicali.  Rolando Valdez pitched 5.1 innings for Mexicali, giving up one run on six hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Obregon took a 3-2 lead in the sixth and Carlos Valencia provided some insurance with a two-run homer (his second) in the eighth.  David Reyes pitched five innings for Obregon, giving up two runs on six hits and four walks while striking out two.  Isaac Rodriguez Salazar was 3-for-5 with a triple for Los Mochis.  Jonathan Castellanos struck out five in five innings for Los Mochis, giving up one run on two hits and four walks.
CULIACAN 10, HERMOSILLO 2 IN HERMOSILLO
Culiacan scored five in the fourth and was never threatened.  Maxwell Leon was 3-for-5 with a double.  D'Arby Myers was 3-for-6.  Anthony Vasquez pitched 6.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
NAVOJOA 4, MAZATLAN 1 IN NAVOJOA
Quincy Latimore's two-run single in the fourth gave Navojoa a 2-0 lead and they stayed ahead the rest of the game.  Latimore was 3-for-4, as was Jesus Castillo.  Jaime Lugo pitched five innings, giving up one run on six hits and no walks with four strikeouts.  Jeremias Pineda was 3-for-4 to lead Mazatlan.

Twins:  David Hurlbut (Licey) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
ESCOGIDO 3, ORIENTE 1 IN ESCOGIDO
Franchy Cordero's two-run single in the second gave Escogido a 3-1 lead and that was where the score stayed.  Franklyn Kilome struck out four in four innings, giving up three hits and a walk.  Joel Payamps pitched three shutout innings of relief for Oriente, giving up two hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
ESTE 1, AGUILAS 0 IN ESTE
Jonathan Galvez' RBI single in the third provided the game's only run as Este picked up its first win of the season.  Bryan Evans pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Yefri Perez was 3-for-4 with a walk for the Aguilas.  Francisley Bueno pitched six innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and one walk with five strikeouts for the Aguilas.
GIGANTES 6, LICEY 5 AT GIGANTES
The Gigantes scored three in the eighth to overcome a 5-3 deficit.  Garabez Rosa's two-run single provided the tying and go-ahead runs.  Rosell Herrera was 4-for-4.  Moises Sierra was 3-for-4 with a home run.  Yamaico Navarro was 2-for-3 with a home run and two walks for Licey.  Hurlbut pitched five innings for Licey, giving up two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three.

Twins:  LaMonte Wade was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Sean Miller was 2-for-4.  Ryan Eades struck out all three batters he faced.  Tyler Jay struck out three batters in a scoreless inning, giving up two hits.  Tom Hackimer pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.  Andrew Vasquez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.
SURPRISE 4, SALT RIVER 3 IN SALT RIVER
Surprise scored thee in the fifth and carried a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth.  Salt River scored three in the bottom of the ninth and had two on with none out, but their last three batters were retired.  Yanio Perez (Texas) and Miller were each 2-for-4.  David Ledbetter (Texas) struck out four in four perfect innings for Surprise.  Scott Squier (Miami) pitched four shutout innings for Salt River, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out two.
GLENDALE 3, PEORIA 2 IN GLENDALE
D. J. Peters (Dodgers) tripled and scored in the seventh to break a 2-2 tie.  Kevin Kramer (Pittsburgh) hit a home run.  For Peoria, Ronald Acuna (Atlanta) hit a two-run homer and Max Povse (Seattle) pitched four innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three.
SCOTTSDALE 3, MESA 1 IN MESA
Troy Montgomery (Angels) hit an RBI triple in the eighth to bring home the go-ahead run and later scored an insurance run.  Montgomery was 3-for-4 and also had a double.  Thairo Estrada (Yankees) hit a home run.  Albert Abreu (Yankees) pitched five innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.  Victor Robles (Washington) hit a home run for Mesa.  Kyle McGowin (Washington) struck out six in four innings, giving up one run on eight hits and no walks.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

MAGALLANES 4, LARA 1 IN MAGALLANES
Alberth Martinez hit a three-run homer (his second) in the second and Magallanes led all the way.  Jesus Valdez was 2-for-4 with a home run, his third.  Alexis Lara pitched 3.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
ARAGUA 11, LA GUAIRA 10 IN LA GUAIRA
Aragua had leads of 9-2 and 11-6, but had to hold on as La Guaira left the bases loaded in the eighth and had the tying run in scoring position in the ninth.  Luis Villegas was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks.  Jose Vargas hit a home run, his sixth.  Jose Castillo was 5-for-6 for La Guaira.  Nine of Aragua's eleven runs were unearned, as La Guaira made four errors.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

JALISCO 6, MEXICALI 4 IN JALISCO
In the third and fifth, Mexicali scored two runs only to see Jalisco come back with three.  Brock Stassi was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Agustin Murillo hit a home run.  Walter Ibarra was 3-for-5 with a double for Mexicali.
LOS MOCHIS 7, OBREGON 4 IN LOS MOCHIS
Los Mochis scored four in the first to take a 4-2 lead and led the rest of the way, although Obregon did cut the margin to 5-4 in the sixth.  Olmo Rosario was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Carlos Valencia was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double for Obregon.
HERMOSILLO 6, CULIACAN 4 IN HERMOSILLO
Hermosillo lost a 3-2 lead, falling behind 4-3, but scored three in the fifth to take the lead for good.  Roberto Ramos and Jose Cardona were each 2-for-4 with a double.
MAZATLAN 6, NAVOJOA 4 IN NAVOJOA
Brian Hernandez hit a three-run homer (his second) in the eighth to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 win.  Jeremias Pineda was 3-for-5.  Alan Sanchez and Jovan Rosa each hit a two-run  homer for Navojoa.  Tyler Kane struck out six in five innings, for Navojoa, giving up one run on four hits and four walks.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Carlos Paulino (Gigantes) was 1-for-3.
ESCOGIDO 6, GIGANTES 3 IN ESCOGIDO
Escogido scored two in the first and two in the second to take a 4-1 lead.  Blake Swihart was 3-for-4 with a double.  Casey Kelly pitched 4.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
ORIENTE 3, ESTE 1 IN ESTE
Este scored one in the first and it looked like it might hold up, but Oriente scored three in the eighth to win.  Alexis Candelario pitched five innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  For Este, Raul Valdez pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and four walks with three strikeouts.
AGUILAS 5, LICEY 3 AT AGUILAS
The Aguilas lost a 3-1 lead in the eighth, but Ronny Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the ninth to win it.  Rodriguez was 3-for-4 and the home run was his second.  Jorge Lopez pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Onelki Garcia struck out six in six innings for Licey, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk.

SURPRISE 4, SALT RIVER 3 IN SURPRISE
Surprise led 4-2 after eight and held off a Salt River rally.  Yanio Perez (Texas) was 2-for-3 with a home run.  Paul also hit a home run.  Nicky Lopez (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a double.
PEORIA 14, GLENDALE 7 IN PEORIA
Peoria scored in each inning but the seventh.  They led 7-1 before Glendale scored five in the sixth, then got two in the sixth and five in the eighth.  Alex Jackson (Atlanta) was 3-for-5 with a home run (his fourth) and three runs.  Kyle Lewis (Seattle) was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and three runs.  Braden Bishop (Seattle) was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs.  Michael Chavis (Boston) hit a home run.  Max Fried (Atlanta) struck out seven in five innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.  Francisco Mejia (Cleveland) and Bobby Bradley (Cleveland) each homered for Glendale.
MESA 5, SCOTTSDALE 2 IN SCOTTSDALE
Mesa broke a 1-1 tie with two in the fifth and led the rest of the way.  Victor Robles (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Alec Mills (Cubs) struck out six in four innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks.

Caracas led 2-0 through five, but Anzoategui scored three in the sixth and to go ahead to stay.  Balbino Fuenmayor was 3-for-4 with a walk.  Luis Domoromo was 3-for-5.  Cesar Valera hit a home run.

It was scoreless through six, but Jung Ho Kang homered in the seventh to put the Aguilas on the board and they added two more in the eighth.  Oriente out-hit the Aguilas 10-4 but stranded twelve runners, going 1-for-12 with men in scoring position.  Angel Castro pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Radhames Liz pitched five shutout innings for Oriente, giving up one hit and one walk with four strikeouts.

Zulia scored four in the fourth, three of them on a home run by David Vidal, to take a 7-4 lead that they would hold the rest of the game.  Vidal was 3-for-5 with two home runs (his second and third), scoring three times and driving in four.  Zach Houchins was 3-for-5 with a home run (his third) and a double, driving in three.  Dayron Varona was 3-for-5.  Danny Rondon struck out three in three shutout innings of relief.  Jesus Montero was 3-for-5 with a double for Lara.
