ARAGUA 4, MARGARITA 3 IN MARGARITA

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 0-for-4.  Dakota Watts (Aragua) struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Game summary:  Aragua scored all four in the third.  Margarita scored all three in the sixth.  Margarita had the tying run on third in the sixth but did not advance a man past first after that.

Aragua:  Yangervis Solarte (Texas) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Joey Gathright was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Margarita:  Cesar Hernandez (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 and scored once.  Frank Diaz was 1-for-2 with two walks and scored once.

LARA 6, ANZOATEGUI 0 IN LARA

Twins:  Eduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was 0-for-3.  Bruce Pugh (Anzoategui) pitched a perfect inning.

Game summary:  Lara built a 5-0 lead after four innings.

Anzoategui:  Alex Herrera retired all eight batters he faced.  Luis Nunez was 2-for-4 with a double.

Lara:  Justin Cassel pitched eight innings, allowing four hits and three walks.  Luis Jimenez (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

ZULIA 8, MAGALLANES 3 IN ZULIA

Twins:  Darin Mastroianni (Zulia) was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Game summary:  Zulia scored five in the first.  Magallanes closed to 5-3 in the top of the seventh, but Zulia scored one in the seventh and two in the eighth to regain control.

Magallanes:  Matt Palmer pitched three shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  Ezequiel Carrera (Cleveland) was 3-for-4 and scored once.

Zulia:  Austin Bibens-Dirkx struck out five in six shutout innings, allowing six hits and a walk.  Ernesto Mejia (Atlanta) was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a two-run homer, and a walk, scoring twice.

CARACAS 9, LA GUAIRA 5 IN CARACAS

Game summary:  Caracas scored four in the first and led 8-1 after five.

La Guaira:  Salvador Perez (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and an RBI.  Gregor Blanco was 1-for-3 with two walks and scored three times.

Caracas:  Yoanner Negrin (Cubs) allowed an unearned run on three hits and three walks in five innings.  Josh Kroeger was 2-for-5 with a double and a home run and scored twice.
