Puerto Rican League: Games of December 21

SANTURCE 4, MAYAGUEZ 3 IN MAYAGUEZ

Twins: Eddie Rowario (Mayaguez) was 3-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer. Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 0-for-5. Nelvin Fuentes (Mayaguez) struck out three in 1.2 innings, but gave up a solo home run.
Game summary: Santurce led 4-0 after 4 ½ . Rosario hit a two-run homer in the fifth. In the ninth Rosario, as the potential tying run, hit a one-out double. He got to third with two out, but that was all.
Santurce: Jason Lowey struck out eight in six innings, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks. Yadiel Rivera (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Mayaguez: Alex Burgos (Detroit) pitched four shutout innings of relief, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out three. Irving Falu (Kansas City) was 3-for-5.

PONCE 2, CAGUAS 1 IN CAGUAS

Twins: Josue Montanez worked two-thirds of an inning, giving up a walk and striking out one.
Game summary: All the runs were scored in the sixth inning. Caguas left the bases loaded in the sixth but did not get a man on base after that.
Ponce: Ryan Tatusko (Washington) struck out five in 5.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks. Zach Walters (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Caguas: Efrain Nieves (Toronto) struck out five in five shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks.

CAROLINA AT MANATI

Postponed.
