Australian League: Games of December 14


MELBOURNE 5, CANBERRA 0 IN MELBOURNE  (GAME 1—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Game summary:  Melbourne led 3-0 after two.
Canberra:  Kody Hightower was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Hirokazu Shiranita struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Melbourne:  Hirotaka Koishi struck out nine in a complete game.  He allowed five hits and seven walks.  Jarryd Rogers was 2-for-3 with two doubles and scored once.

CANBERRA 9, MELBOURNE 8 IN MELBOURNE (GAME 2—10 INNINGS)

Twins:  Joshua Hendricks (Melbourne) was used as a reserve but did not bat.
Game summary:  Melbourne scored four in the ninth to tie the game at eight, only to see Jeremy Barnes hit a home run in the tenth for Canberra.
Canberra:  Adam Buschini was 3-for-6 with two home runs and five RBIs.  Kody Hightower was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Melbourne:  Josh Davies was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, scoring twice and driving in three.  Brad Harman was 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs.

ADELAIDE 2, BRISBANE 1 IN BRISBANE (GAME 1—11 INNINGS—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Twins:  Logan Wade (Brisbane) was 0-for-4.
Game summary:  Brisbane scored in the second, but not again.  Adelaide got single runs in the seventh and eleventh.
Adelaide:  Seon Gi Kim (Seattle) gave up one run on two hits and four walks in seven innings.  Andrew Kittredge (Seattle) struck out four in four perfect innings.
Brisbane:  Chris Smith struck out eleven in seven innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit and two walks.  Ryan Searle struck out three in three shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk.

BRISBANE 6, ADELAIDE 5 IN BRISBANE (GAME 2--10 INNINGS)

Twins:  Logan Wade (Brisbane) was used as a pinch-runner and scored but did not bat.
Game summary:  Brisbane scored a single run in the ninth to tie and another in the tenth to win.
Adelaide:  Stefan Welch (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in three.  Gabriel Suarez was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.
Brisbane:  Cody Clark was 3-for-5 and scored twice.  John Veitch pitched three shutout innings, striking out three and allowing three hits.

PERTH 10, SYDNEY 2 IN PERTH (GAME 1—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Twins:  Jacob Younis (Sydney) was 0-for-2.  JaDamion Williams (Sydney) was 1-for-3.  Tim Atherton (Sydney) surrendered four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out four in three innings.
Game summary:  Perth scored four in the second and six in the fourth.
Sydney:  David Kandilas (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a double and scored once.
Perth:  Daniel Schmidt struck out seven in six innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and a walk.  Corey Adamson was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk, scoring once and driving in three.

SYDNEY 6, PERTH 4 IN PERTH (GAME 2)

Twins:  JaDamion Williams (Sydney) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in three.
Game summary:  Sydney scored one in the fourth to break a 4-4 tie and got an insurance run in the fifth.
Sydney:  David Kandilas (Colorado) was 2-for-4 and scored twice.  Geoffrey Klein (St. Louis) was 2-for-4, scoring once and driving in one.
Perth:  Adam Melker (St. Louis) was 3-for-5 with a double and scored twice.  Allan de San Miguel (Baltimore) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.
