Venezuelan League: Games of October 17


ARAGUA 3, ANZOATEGUI 1 IN ARAGUA

Twins:  Angel Mata worked two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one for Aragua.
Game summary:  An error aided a two-out, two-run rally in the eighth to provide Aragua with the margin of victory.
Anzoategui:  Ramon A. Ramirez allowed one run on two hits and two walks in five innings.
Aragua:  Edgardo Alfonzo was 2-for-4.  Yohan Pino (Toronto) retired all five batters he faced.

ZULIA 4, MAGALLANES 1 IN ZULIA

Game summary:  Freddy Galvis put Zulia in front with a homer in the first and the team never trailed.
Magallanes:  Erold Andrus hit a pinch-hit double.
Zulia:  Galvis (Philadelphia) was 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run, scoring twice.  Manuel Olivares pitched four shutout innings.

CARACAS 3, LARA 1 IN CARACAS

Game summary:  Ramon Cabrera’s two-run double broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh.
Lara:  Edilio Colina (Seattle) was 3-for-4 and drove in the team’s only run.  Jarrett Grube gave up a run on two hits while striking out five in four innings.
Caracas:  Victor Garate allowed one run in 4.2 innings.  Henry Wrigley (Tampa Bay) hit a home run.

LA GUAIRA AT MARGARITA

Postponed.
