Arizona Fall League Preview

Who says the baseball season is over?  The AFL season is just starting!
There are six teams in the AFL.  They are divided into two divisions, east and west.
AFL East:
Mesa Solar Sox:  Baltimore, Cubs, Detroit, Houston, Dodgers
Salt River Rafters:  Arizona, White Sox, Colorado, Toronto, Washington
Scottsdale Scorpions:  Cleveland, Angels, Yankees, Pittsburgh, San Francisco
AFL West:
Peoria Javelinas:  Cincinnati, Minnesota, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle
Phoenix Desert Dogs:  Atlanta, Oakland, Miami, Milwaukee, Tampa Bay
Surprise Saguaros:  Boston, Kansas City, Mets, St. Louis, Texas
We will, of course, be following most closely the Peoria team and the Twins players thereon, although we’ll try to provide a little coverage of the other teams as well.  Twins players on the Peoria roster are:
Evan Bigley
Logan Darnell
Kyle Gibson
Chris Herrmann
Nate Roberts
Caleb Thielbar
Michael Tonkin
There are 36 players on the roster.  Nineteen of them are pitchers.  The manager is Dusty Wathan, the pitching coach is Lance Painter, and the batting coach is Alex Pelaez.
The league plays a thirty-six game schedule.  The season opens October 9 and closes with a championship game on November 17.  The Rising Stars game will be held November 3.
It’s not the major leagues, but some of the players will probably be there someday.  Let’s enjoy some baseball!
