Mexican League: Games of October 23


GUASAVE 8, MEXICALI 6 IN MEXICALI

Twins:  Chris Colabello was 0-for-5 and struck out twice.
Game summary:  Guasave scored three in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.  They never trailed after that, but the game remained close throughout.
Guasave:  Jose Felix (Texas) was 3-for-4 with a double and drove in one.  Jose Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a double.  He walked twice, scored once, and drove in two.
Mexicali:  Geronimo Gil was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Issmael Salas was 2-for-5 and scored once.

NAVOJOA 7, MAZATLAN 1 IN MAZATLAN

Game summary:  Navojoa scored three in the first to take the early lead and three in the sixth to put the game away.
Navojoa:  Wes Bankston was 4-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Orlando Lara struck out six in six innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk.
Mazatlan:  Greg Rohan (Cubs) was 2-for-3 and scored once.

LOS MOCHIS 7, OBREGON 3 IN LOS MOCHIS

Game summary:  Los Mochis scored three in the fourth to break a 2-2 tie.
Obregon:  Carlos Valencia was 1-for-3 with a homer and a walk.  Doug Clark hit a home run.
Los Mochis:  Ramon Orantes was 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in four.  Jason Botts was 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice.

CULIACAN 13, HERMOSILLO 8 IN HERMOSILLO

Game summary:  A four-run seventh gave Culiacan firm control of the game.
Culiacan:  Marlon Byrd was 3-for-3 with two walks and two home runs, scoring three times and driving in three.  Emmanuel Valdez was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a three-run homer, scoring twice.
Hermosillo:  Carlos Gastelum was 2-for-5 with a double, driving in three.  Jose Amador hit a three-run homer and walked, scoring twice.
