Venezuelan Winter League: Games of November 22

It was deuces wild in La Guaira.  A big day for Oswaldo Arcia carries Anzoategui.  Blowouts for Magallanes and Lara.

LA GUAIRA 6, CARACAS 4 IN LA GUAIRA

Caracas:  Felix Perez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer (his fourth), scoring twice.  Alex Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fifth.  Yoanner Negrin (Cubs) pitched 4.1 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk with one strikeout.

La Guaira:  Odubel Herrera (Philadelphia) was 3-for-5 with a triple and a run.  Rene Reyes was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run.  Ramon A. Ramirez pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Perez’ two-run homer tied it in the top of the sixth, but an RBI double by Luis Sardinas (Texas) keyed a two-run rally by La Guaira in the bottom of the sixth which gave them a lead they did not relinquish.  Caracas cut the lead to 6-4 in the eighth and had the tying run on base with none out but did not get a baserunner after that.

Twins:  Oswaldo Arcia was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, his fifth, for Anzoategui.

The game:  Margarita led 2-1 after three, but Anzoategui scored five in the fifth to take the lead to stay.  Two scored on a wild pitch-plus-error and Oswaldo Arcia hit a three-run homer in the inning.
