Venezuelan Winter League: Game of November 17


Only one inning of scoring.

MAGALLANES 2, ZULIA 0 IN ZULIA

Magallanes:  Tomas Solis was 2-for-4.  Andres Blanco (Philadelphia) was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Orangel Arenas (Angels) pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

Zulia:  Jose Pirela (Yankees) was 2-for-3 with a double.  Freddy Galvis (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Wilfredo Boscan (Boston) pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  There were no runs until the seventh, when Magallanes scored twice on two singles, two walks, a hit batsman, and two errors.  Zulia’s best chance came in the fifth, when they had a man at third with none out, but the runner was thrown out at home on a ground ball to short.
