Puerto Rican League: Games of November 16


Sanchez was angelic for Caguas.  Carolina doubles its pleasure.

CAGUAS 8, SANTURCE 7 IN CAGUAS (10 INNINGS)

Santurce:  Jorge Padilla was 4-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.  Wilfredo Rodriguez (Colorado) was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBIs.  Fernando Cruz (Kansas City) pitched three shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks with two strikeouts.

Caguas:  Edgardo Baez was 1-for-2 with a three-run homer and a walk.  Trever Adams (Texas) was 1-for-2 with a double and three walks, scoring twice.  Michael Nix (San Diego) pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts.

The game:  A. J. Jimenez (Toronto) hit a two-run double to cap a three-run top of the eighth to put Santurce up 7-5, but Angel Sanchez hit a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth to tie it 7-7.  Sanchez came through again in the tenth, delivering a two-out RBI single to win the game.

CAROLINA 4, SAN JUAN 1 IN CAROLINA

San Juan:  John Andreoli (Cubs) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Ruben Gotay (Cincinnati) was 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Jay Rogers (Miami) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Carolina:  Jesus Feliciano was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs.  Cameron Seitzer (Tampa Bay) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in one.

The game:  Back-to-back RBI doubles by Carlos Corporan (Houston) and Seitzer put Carolina up 2-0 in the second and Carolina added another run in the third.  The lone San Juan run came in the eighth.
