Venezuelan Winter League: Games of November 20

La Guaira scores six.  Anzoategui wins by six.  Caracas gets six in the first and ends up with twice six.

LA GUAIRA 6, MARGARITA 4 IN LA GUAIRA

Margarita:  Taylor Motter (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Luis Jimenez was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Eric Berger struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up no hits and three walks.

La Guaira:  Miguel Gonzalez (White Sox) was 3-for-4 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two.  Carlos Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Buddy Baumann (Kansas City) pitched 3.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits with one strikeout.

The game:  La Guaira scored two in the sixth to break a 4-4 tie.  Luis Sardinas (Texas) doubled in the go-ahead run and Sanchez singled in an insurance run.

LARA 5, ZULIA 0 IN LARA

Zulia:  Reegie Corona was 2-for-4.  Eric Marzec (Milwaukee) pitched six innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

Lara:  J. C. Linares was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Gabriel Noriega was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.  Erasmo Rodriguez (Seattle) struck out six in six shutout innings, allowing four hits and no walks.

The game:  Lara scored two in the second and that was all they would need.  Zulia had seven hits, two of them doubles, but could not score.

ANZOATEGUI 7, ARAGUA 1 IN ANZOATEGUI

TwinsEduardo Escobar was 0-for-4 for Aragua.  Josmil Pinto was 2-for-2 with a double and a run for Aragua.  Argenis Diaz was 0-for-3 for Aragua.  Oswaldo Arcia was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks for Anzoagetui, scoring once.

Aragua:  Jose Martinez was 1-for-4 with a double and a run.  Yohan Pino pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up three hits.

Anzoategui:  Oscar Salazar was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.  Jose Gil was 3-for-4 with a double and a run.  Daryl Thompson struck out six in five innings, allowing one run on six hits and no walks.

The game:  Anzoategui scored two in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead and put the game out of reach with five in the fifth.  Gorkys Hernandez had a two-run single in the fifth inning.

CARACAS 12, MAGALLANES 3 IN MAGALLANES

Caracas:  L. J. Hoes (Houston) was 3-for-5 with three doubles and four RBIs.  Felix Perez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, scoring twice and driving in two.  Kyler Newby pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

Magallanes:  Carlos Maldonado was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk.  Andres Blanco was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Carlos Quevedo (Philadelphia) pitched four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits with three strikeouts.

The game:  Caracas scored six in the first to put it away early.  Carlos Perez (Houston) and Hoes each had a two-run double in the inning and Felix Perez had a two-run triple.
