Mexican Pacific League: Games of November 20

Free baseball in Obregon and Hermosillo.  It’s a good day to be an Amador.  A big day for Fernando Valenzuela.

MAZATLAN 6, OBREGON 5 IN OBREGON (10 INNINGS)

Mazatlan:  Heber Gomez was 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs.  Doug Clark was 1-for-3 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Fredy Quintero pitched six innings, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Obregon:  Donald Lutz was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring twice.  Christian Villaneuva (Cubs) was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer (his third) and two walks.  Ramon Delgado pitched eight innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  Mazatlan got two in the top of the ninth to go up 5-3 but Villanueva hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to tie it 5-5.  Mazatlan scored the winning run in the tenth on a single, an error, a bunt, an intentional walk, and an accidental walk.

LOS MOCHIS 7, HERMOSILLO 6 IN HERMOSILLO (11 INNINGS)

Los Mochis:  Rodolfo Amador was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Ernesto Molinet was 2-for-4 with a double and two walks, scoring once.  Tomas Solis pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

Hermosillo:  Carlos Alberto Gastelum was 3-for-5 with a walk and three RBIs.  Jorge Flores (Toronto) was 3-for-5 with two runs.  Edgar Gonzalez pitched five shutout innings, allowing four hits and three walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Jose Amador homered in the bottom of the ninth to tie it 4-4.  Los Mochis scored three in the eleventh, while Hermosillo got two and had the tying run on second with two out.

JALISCO 9, NAVOJOA 2 IN JALISCO

Navojoa:  Carlos Orrantia was 1-for-2 with two walks.  Alejandro Gonzalez was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.  Esteban Haro pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits.

Jalisco:  Jose Manuel Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and a double, driving in three.  Fernando Valenzuela was 3-for-3 with a home run and a walk.  Ben Kozlowski pitched 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with no strikeouts.

The game:  Jalisco scored two in the third and four in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.  Rodriguez and Japhet Amador each hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
