Mexican Pacific League: Games of November 2


Hermosillo's comeback falls short.  A pickoff error makes the difference in Obregon.  Early leads carry Los Mochis and Mexicali.

CULIACAN 6, HERMOSILLO 5 IN CULIACAN

Twins:  Eric Farris was 0-for-4 for Culiacan.
Hermosillo:  Jesus Loya (Boston) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs.  Jorge Flores (Toronto) was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk.  Jesus Castillo pitched two innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits.
Culiacan:  Sergio Gastelum was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his second.  Issmael Salas was 4-for-4 with two runs.  Robert Coello (Baltimore) struck out five in 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks.
The game:  Gastelum's homer highlighted a three-run second for Culiacan.  It was 5-0 after five, but Flores hit a three-run homer in a four-run sixth that got Hermosillo back into the game.  Hermosillo had the tying run on second in the sixth and again in the eighth.

OBREGON 3, NAVOJOA 1 IN OBREGON

Twins:  Corey Wimberly was 0-for-3.
Navojoa:  Jon Weber (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run.  Eliseo Aldazaba was 2-for-3.  Eddie Gamboa (Baltimore) pitched seven innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
Obregon:  Nicolas Garcia was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Agustin Murillo was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in one.  Jorge Castillo pitched five innings, allowing one run on five hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
The game:  A two-run pickoff error broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth.  Navojoa did not get a man past first base after the fourth.

LOS MOCHIS 6, JALISCO 3 IN LOS MOCHIS

Jalisco:  Japhet Amador was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and a walk.  Gabriel Gutierrez was 3-for-4.  Kenneth Sigman pitched two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk with one strikeout.
Los Mochis:  Rodolfo Amador was 4-for-4 with a home run (his second) and a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Brian Burgamy (Mets) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.  Tomas Solis struck out five in five innings, allowing one run on six hits and no walks.
The game:  Two singles and three doubles produced four second-inning runs for Los Mochis.  They built a 6-1 lead after four and were never threatened.

MEXICALI 7, MAZATLAN 3 IN MEXICALI

Mazatlan:  Derrick Robinson (Cincinnati) was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Francisco Lizarraga pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.
Mexicali:  Luis Juarez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Xorge Carrillo (Mets) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.  Manuel Chavez (Philadelphia) struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing only a walk.
The game:  Carrillo hit a three-run double in a four-run fourth that made the score 6-0.  Mexicali's lead was never threatened.

No games were scheduled.
