Dominican Winter League: Games of November 13


Chris Parmelee leads Licey to victory.  Oriente holds on to win.

LICEY 8, CIBAO 6 IN LICEY

Twins:  Jeremias Pineda was used as a pinch-hitter by Cibao and was 0-for-1.  Chris Parmelee was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice for Licey.
Cibao:  Wilson Betemit (Tampa Bay) was 1-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.  Maikel Franco (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Rafael Perez (Pittsburgh) struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.
Licey:  Jhonatan Solano (Washington) was 1-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in three.  Jairo Ascencio struck out two in a perfect inning.
The game:  Cibao scored three in the first, Licey tied it 3-3 in the second, Licey went up 7-3 in the fourth, and Cibao cut the lead to 7-6 in the fifth.  Then the bullpens took over, with the only other run coming for Licey in the eighth.

ORIENTE 4, ESCOGIDO 2 IN ORIENTE

Escogido:  Jimmy Paredes (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Stephen Kohlscheen (San Diego) pitched a perfect inning.
Oriente:  Aneury Tavarez (Boston) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Alberto Rosario (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Radhames Liz (Toronto) struck out six in five shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.
The game:  Oriente scored one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth to go up 4-0.  Escogido got one in the eighth and one in the ninth and put the tying run into scoring position with two out in the ninth.
