Mexican Pacific League: Games of November 7


A-Rod comes through for Culiacan.  Roberson was Homerson for Mexicali.  Shutouts for Los Mochis and Hermosillo.

CULIACAN 4, MAZATLAN 3 IN MAZATLAN (11 INNINGS)

Culiacan:  Arturo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Cody Decker (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.  Salvador Valdez struck out eight in seven innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks.
Mazatlan:  Jesus Castillo was 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.  Alberto Carreon was 1-for-5 with a double and a run.  Jose Contreras pitched five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and five walks with three strikeouts.
The game:  Mazatlan led 2-0 after one and 3-1 after two, but Culiacan scored single runs in the third and eighth to tie it 3-3.  A pair of two-out walks and a Rodriguez single brought home the go-ahead run for Culiacan in the eleventh.

MEXICALI 6, JALISCO 5 IN MEXICALI

Jalisco:  Cory Vaughn (Mets) was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his fourth) and two walks.  Leo Heras (Houston) was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring once.  Manuel Flores (Angels) struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Mexicali:  Chris Roberson was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer.  Dave Sappelt was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Mario Meza struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk.
The game:  Jalisco led 4-3 when Roberson hit a three-run homer in the sixth to make it 6-4 Mexicali.  Jalisco had the tying run on second with two out in the ninth.

LOS MOCHIS 2, NAVOJOA 0 IN LOS MOCHIS

Navojoa:  Eliseo Aldazaba was 2-for-4 with a double.  Genaro Andrade was 2-for-4 with a double.  Hector Velazquez struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks.
Los Mochis:  Antonio Lamas was 1-for-4 with a home run, his fourth.  Brian Burgamy (Mets) was 1-for-2 with two walks.  Alberto Castillo struck out five in 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks.
The game:  A bases loaded walk in the fourth and a Lamas homer in the seventh scored the only runs of the game.  Navojoa had seven hits and stranded nine runners.

HERMOSILLO 3, OBREGON 0 IN OBREGON

Hermosillo:  Adan Munoz was 4-for-5 with a run.  Luis Alfonso Garcia was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his second.  Juan Pablo Oramas (San Diego) pitched six shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Obregon:  Corey Wimberly was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Ramon Delgado (St. Louis) pitched six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
The game:  Garcia's two-run homer made it 3-0 in the third.  Obregon had only three hits.
