Australian League: Games of November 2

Goetzman had a grand game for Brisbane.  Luke Hughes leads Perth to a big win.

BRISBANE 7, ADELAIDE 2 IN BRISBANE

TwinsLogan Wade was 0-for-3 for Brisbane.

Adelaide:  Craig Maddox (Atlanta) was 2-for-2 with a home run and a walk.  Aaron Miller (Dodgers) was 1-for-4 with a home run.

Brisbane:  Grandon Goetzman was 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and two doubles, scoring twice.  Thomas Coyle (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs.  Jaspreet Shergill pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Goetzman hit a three-run homer in the first and Brisbane's lead was never less than three runs after that.

PERTH 20, SYDNEY 9 IN PERTH

TwinsTodd Van Steensel struck out three in one inning, giving up one run on three hits.

Sydney:  Tyler Bortnick (Arizona) was 1-for-2 with a grand slam and three walks, scoring twice.  David Kandilas (Colorado) was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer.

Perth:  Tim Kennelly (Texas) was 5-for-6 with a home run, scoring four times and driving in four.  Luke Hughes was 3-for-5 with a home run, scoring three times and driving in five.  Alex Burkard pitched four shutout innings, allowing three hits and three walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Sydney led 9-5 after four and 9-7 after five, but Perth got seven in the sixth and five in the seventh to take command.  Hughes hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning and Taishi Nakagawa hit a three-run shot in the seventh inning.

MONDAY'S GAMES

No games are scheduled until Thursday.
