Dominican Winter League: Games of November 14


Three one-run games.  One of them goes extra innings.

ESCOGIDO 6, LICEY 5 IN ESCOGIDO (11 INNINGS)

Twins:  Chris Parmelee was 1-for-5 with a double for Licey.
Licey:  Juan Francisco (Toronto) was 1-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and a walk.  Jose Ruiz (San Diego) was 3-for-4 with a double.  Hansel Robles (Mets) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Escogido:  Pedro Ciriaco (Kansas City) was 3-for-6 with a home run and two doubles, driving in four.  Eury Perez (Washington) was 4-for-6 with two runs and an RBI.  Rafael Montero (Mets) pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
The game:  Escogido lost leads of 3-1 and 5-3, with Licey scoring twice in the ninth to tie it 5-5.  Ciriaco doubled in Perez with one out in the eleventh to win the game.

ORIENTE 4, ESTE 3 IN ESTE

Oriente:  Junior Lake (Cubs) was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Luis Jimenez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Chris Rearick (San Diego) struck out two in two perfect innings.
Este:  Tyler Moore (Washington) was 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.  Yasmani Grandal (San Diego) was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.  Edwar Cabrera (Texas) retired all seven men he faced, striking out four.
The game:  Gustavo Nunez (Atlanta) hit a two-run double in a three-run second that put Oriente up 3-1.  It was 4-1 after three and stayed there until the seventh, when Este scored twice on Grandal's two-run single.  Grandal stole second but was stranded there and Este did not get another baserunner.

CIBAO 9, AGUILAS 8 IN AGUILAS

Cibao:  Carlos Peguero (Kansas City) was 1-for-3 with a home run (his sixth) and two walks, scoring three times.  Moises Sierra (White Sox) was 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs.  Brooks Raley (Angels) pitched six innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks.
Aguilas:  Dan Black (White Sox) was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, his fifth.  Rafael Ynoa (Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run.  Lorenzo Barcelo pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts.
The game:  Cibao led 7-0 after three, but Aguilas scored one in the sixth and six in the seventh to tie it up.  Sierra's two-run triple in the ninth put Cibao ahead 9-7.  Aguilas got one back in the eighth and had the tying run on base with one out.
