Mexican Pacific League: Games of October 22


Olmo tickles Mazatlan fans again.  Madera drinks in a victory for Los Mochis.  Two three-run innings lift Jalisco.

MAZATLAN 7, OBREGON 6 IN MAZATLAN (14 INNINGS)

Twins:  Corey Wimberly was 2-for-8 for Obregon.
Obregon:  Jake Smolinski (Texas) was 3-for-6 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Dean Anna (Pittsburgh) was 1-for-5 with two walks, scoring once and driving in two.  Victor Arano (Philadelphia) pitched two shutout innings, giving up no hits and no walks with one strikeout.
Mazatlan:  Olmo Rosario was 4-for-7 with a home run and a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  Heber Gomez was 4-for-6 with a walk and two runs.  Sergio Valenzuela struck out three in three shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk.
The game:  Obregon led 6-2 after four and a half, but Mazatlan came back and tied it in the eighth on Rosario's homer.  Derrick Robinson's (Cincinnati) RBI single won the game with two out in the fourteenth.

LOS MOCHIS 3, HERMOSILLO 2 IN LOS MOCHIS

Hermosillo:  Yunesky Sanchez was 3-for-4 with a home run.  Jorge Flores (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Juan Pablo Oramas (San Diego) pitched five innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Los Mochis:  Ernesto Molinet was 3-for-5 with two doubles.  Saul Soto was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Tomas Solis pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk with one strikeout.
The game:  Soto homered in the sixth to tie the score at two.  In the ninth, Sandy Madera singled in Jesus Arredondo with the winning run with two out.

NAVOJOA 6, JALISCO 1 IN NAVOJOA

Jalisco:  Cory Vaughn (Mets) was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.  Japhet Amador was 2-for-4.  Manuel Flores pitched three shutout innings with one strikeout.
Navojoa:  Jose Guadalupe Chavez was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Jon Weber (Detroit) was 1-for-5 with a two-run homer, his fourth.
The game:  Weber's two-run homer and solo shot by Chris Marrero (Baltimore) made it 3-0 after three for Navojoa.  A two-run single by Luis Borges and an RBI double by Chavez made it 6-1 in the eighth.
