Mexican Pacific League: Games of October 12


Corey Wimberly leads Obregon to victory.  A solo home run wins it for Hermosillo.  Carreon carries on for Mazatlan.

OBREGON 6, LOS MOCHIS 4 IN OBREGON

Twins:  Corey Wimberly was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one, for Obregon.
Los Mochis:  Brian Burgamy (Mets) was 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs.  Saul Soto was 1-for-3 with a double.  Oscar Verdugo pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.
Obregon:  Albino Contreras was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one.  Rolando Valdez struck out eight in five innings, allowing two hits and two walks.
The game:  Obregon scored five in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead.  Los Mochis got back into it with three in the sixth but could get no closer.

HERMOSILLO 3, NAVOJOA 2 IN NAVOJOA (10 INNINGS)

Hermosillo:  Sebastian Elizalde (Cincinnati) was 3-for-5 with a home run (his second) and a double, scoring three times.  Yunesky Sanchez was 3-for-5 with an RBI.  James Gillheeney (Seattle) struck out four in 3.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks.
Navojoa:  Jon Weber (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Chris Marrero (Baltimore) was 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Linder Castro pitched a perfect inning.
The game:  Elizalde's homer leading off the tenth was the difference in the game.  Navojoa put men on first and second with two out in the bottom of the tenth.

MAZATLAN 4, CULIACAN 2 IN CULIACAN

Mazatlan:  Ryan Schimpf (Toronto) was 2-for-5 with a home run.  Alberto Carreon was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Walter Silva pitched six shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk with one strikeout.
Culiacan:  J. C. Linares was 1-for-4 with a double and a run.  Oscar Villarreal pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing two walks with one strikeout.
The game:  Mazatlan built a 4-0 lead through six then held on.  Culiacan had the tying run on base in both the seventh and the eighth.
