Mexican Pacific League: Game of October 10


A montzter day for Luke Montz leads Mexicali to an opening day win.

MEXICALI 8, JALISCO 1 IN JALISCO

Mexicali:  Luke Montz (Oakland) was 3-for-5 with two home runs and a double, driving in four.  Mike Jacobs (Arizona) was 3-for-5 with two runs.  Javier Solano (Dodgers) pitched 4.2 scoreless innings despite giving up three hits and six walks with no strikeouts.
Jalisco:  Cory Vaughn (Mets) was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and a walk, driving in one.  Jose Manuel Rodriguez was 2-for-5.  Kenneth Sigman pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.
The game:  Mexicali scored single runs in the first, third, and fourth, then got three in the fifth.  The lone Jalisco run came in the eighth.
