Arizona Fall League: Games of October 27


Almost every Twin played.  Lots of free baseball.  Bird makes the baseball fly away for Scottsdale.

MESA 3, SALT RIVER 3 IN SALT RIVER (11 INNINGS)

Twins:  Byron Buxton was 1-for-4.  Eddie Rosario was 1-for-5 with a run.  Max Kepler was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.  Jason Adam pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and one walk.  Jake Reed pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit with one strikeout.  Zack Jones pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two hits and one walk.
Mesa:  Jacob Hannemann (Cubs) was 3-for-6 with two triples and a run.  Spencer Kieboom (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  C. J. Edwards (Cubs) pitched three perfect innings with one strikeout.
Salt River:  Trevor Story (Colorado) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Reid Redman (Miami) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
The game:  Four singles in the seventh plated three runs to give Salt River a 3-2 lead.  Hannemann hit a leadoff triple in the ninth and scored the tying run on a Tony Renda (Washington) single.  By rule, the game was declared a tie after eleven innings.

GLENDALE 6, SURPRISE 5 IN SURPRISE (11 INNINGS)

Glendale:  Steven Moya (Detroit) was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his second and third) and three RBIs.  Darnell Sweeney (Dodgers) was 3-for-5 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Francellis Montas (White Sox) pitched five innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Surprise:  Mallex Smith (San Diego) was 3-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.  Jesse Winker (Cincinnati) was 2-for-5 with a home run, his third.  Justin Hancock (San Diego) pitched three shutout innings, allowing three hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
The game:  Winker homered with one out in the ninth to tie the game at four.  Each team scored once in the tenth.  Sweeney singled in what turned out to be the winning run with one out in the eleventh.

SCOTTSDALE 6, PEORIA 2 IN SCOTTSDALE

Peoria:  Patrick Leonard (Tampa Bay) was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring once.  Francisco Lindor (Cleveland) was 1-for-3 with a double and a run.  Matt Lollis (Tampa Bay) pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Scottsdale:  Greg Bird (Yankees) was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer, his sixth.  Roman Quinn (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Adam Morgan (Philadelphia) pitched four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
The game:  Scottsdale led 3-2 after seven.  Bird put the game out of reach with a three-run homer in the eighth.
