Puerto Rican League: Games of January 8

SANTURCE 11, CAROLINA 7 IN CAROLINA (14 INNINGS)

Twins: Angel Morales (Carolina) was used as a pinch-runner but did not bat.
Game summary: Santurce led 2-0 after one. Carolina led 6-2 after three. Santurce tied it in the sixth and went ahead 7-6 in the seventh. Carolina tied it at seven in the ninth. In the eleventh, Geraldo Valentin singled in the go-ahead run and Orlando Mercado hit a three-run double.
Santurce: Ivan Maldonado pitched four shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks. Valentin was 3-for-6 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in two.
Carolina: Enrique Hernandez was 3-for-6 with a double and a walk. Osvaldo Martinez was 2-for-5 with a triple and a walk, scoring once and driving in two.

CAGUAS 6, MAYAGUEZ 0 IN MAYAGUEZ

Twins: Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 0-for-4. Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 2-for-4 with a double. Nelvin Fuentes (Mayaguez) struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.
Game summary: Caguas scored all six runs in the second inning.
Caguas: Fernando Hernandez struck out seven in six innings, giving up one hit and two walks. Ramon Castro was 3-for-4.
Mayaguez: Freddie Cabrera pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk. Fernando Cruz struck out three in two shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk.
