Mexican League: Games of January 6

GUASAVE 7, OBREGON 5 IN OBREGON


Game summary: Guasave led 6-1 after 4 ½. Obregon closed to 7-5 in the eighth.
Guasave: Japhet Amador was 2-for-4 with a home run and scored twice. Jose Felix (Texas) was 2-for-4 with a double and scored once.
Obregon: Agustin Murillo was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Alfredo Amezaga (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a double and scored once.

CULIACAN 7, HERMOSILLO 2 IN HERMOSILLO

Game summary: Culiacan led 3-0 after six, then scored four in the seventh.
Culiacan: Francisco Campos struck out seven in seven shutout innings, giving up six hits and two walks. Marlon Byrd was 1-for-4 with a grand slam.
Hermosillo: Jose Amador was 3-for-4 with a double and scored once. Jesse Gutierrez was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Culiacan sweeps the series 4-0 and will move on to the next round.

MAZATLAN 1, MEXICALI 0 IN MAZATLAN

Game summary: Henry Mateo singled in the winning run with two out in the ninth.
Mexicali: Sergio Valenzuela struck out six in 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up six hits and no walks. Wes Bankston was 1-for-2 with two walks.
Mazatlan: Marco Quevedo allowed two hits and three walks in six innings. Mateo was 3-for-5.
