ROCHESTER 10, COLUMBUS 8 IN COLUMBUS (12 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Chris Parmelee was 3-for-6 with a double and two home runs, giving him eleven.  He scored three times.  Brian Dinkelman was 3-for-4 with a double and two walks.  Eduardo Escobar was 3-for-6.
Pitching stars:  Eric Hurley gave up two runs on six hits and a walk in six innings.  Caleb Thielbar struck out three in 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit.
Opposition stars:  Jason Donald was 5-for-5 with two doubles and a walk.  Matt LaPorta was 2-for-6 with a double and a home run, driving in three.  Chad Huffman was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Key inning:  The twelfth.  The score was tied at eight.  Wilkin Ramirez hit a one-out homer to give the Red Wings the lead.  Dinkelman doubled and Tsuyoshi Nishioka singled him home for an insurance run.
Other:  Rochester led 7-2 going to the bottom of the ninth, but surrendered five runs to tie the score.  Each team scored once in the eleventh.

NEW BRITAIN 2, BOWIE 1 IN BOWIE

Batting star:  Chris Colabello hit a two-run homer, his fifteenth.
Pitching stars:  B. J. Hermsen gave up an unearned run on six hits and a walk in 5.1 innings.  Bruce Pugh struck out three and walked two in three scoreless, hitless innings.
Opposition stars:  Antoan Richardson and Manny Machado were each 2-for-4.  Michael Belfiore retired all seven batters he faced.
Key inning:  The fourth.  In a scoreless tie, Chris Herrmann hit a one-out single and Colabello hit a two-out home run.  In the bottom of the inning, the BaySox scored once on an error, a single, and a pair of ground outs, and that ended the scoring in the game.
Other:  The two fourth-inning hits were the only hits the Rock Cats got in the game.  They won despite being out-hit 7-2.  New Britain also made three errors.

DAYTONA 5, FORT MYERS 4 IN DAYTONA

Batting stars:  Levi Michael was 3-for-5 with a double.  Daniel Rams hit a home run, his fourth.  Andy Leer was 0-for-0 but walked four times.
Pitching stars:  Ryan O’Rourke and A. J. Achter each allowed two hits in two scoreless innings, with Achter striking out three.
Opposition stars:  Timothy Saunders was 3-for-4 with a double.  John Andreoli was 2-for-5 with a triple.  Hunter Cervenka struck out two in two shutout innings.
Key inning:  The fifth.  The Miracle trailed 5-2.  With one out, Michael doubled and Steven Liddle walked.  An error and a wild pitch scored one and put runners on second and third.  Josmil Pinto singled to score one, but the potential tying run was held at third.  The next two batters went out, and the Miracle would not come as close to tying the score again.

BELOIT 9, KANE COUNTY 4 IN BELOIT

Batting stars:  Eddie Rosario was 3-for-5 with a double and a triple.  Kennys Vargas was 2-for-3 with two walks and a home run, his sixth.  Stephen Wickens was 2-for-3 with two walks and a double.
Pitching stars:  David Hurlbut worked seven shutout innings before tiring.  His final line shows four runs on ten hits and two walks in 8.2 innings with seven strikeouts.
Opposition stars:  Jorge Bonifacio was 3-for-5 with a double.  Kevin David was 2-for-4 with a double.  Jason Mitchell threw three shutout innings.
Key inning:  The second.  It was a scoreless tie.  Wickens and Jairo Rodriguez singled to open the frame.  Following a bunt, Nate Roberts and Wang-wei Lin delivered RBI singles.  Rosario then drove home two with a triple, Miguel Sano hit a sacrifice fly, and Vargas homered to cap off the inning and put the Snappers up 6-0.

ELIZABETHTON AT BRISTOL

Rained out.

GCL TWINS 6, RAYS 1 AT RAYS

Batting star:  Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-4.  Bryan Santy was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Pitching stars:  Starter Kyle Gibson struck out seven in three shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk.  Andrew Albers allowed one hit in two shutout innings, striking out two.
Opposition stars:  Spencer Edwards was 2-for-4 with a double.  Isaac Gil gave up one run on a hit and a walk with four strikeouts in four innings.  Carlos Cedeno struck out two in two perfect innings.
Key inning:  The third.  It was a scoreless tie.  A hit batsman and a single started the inning, and Byron Buxton tripled to drive in two.  Mejia delivered an RBI single.  An error put two runners on, and with one out, Santy doubled to drive in two and put the Twins ahead 5-0.
Other:  The Twins won by five despite being out-hit 7-6.

DSL REDS 6, TWINS 5 AT TWINS (11 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Adonis Pacheco was 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk.  Rafael P. Valera was 2-for-5 with a triple.  Engelb Vielma was 2-for-6 with a double.
Pitching star:  Jadison Jimenez gave up an unearned run and took the loss despite giving up no hits and no walks in 2.2 innings.
Opposition stars:  Kevin W. Garcia was 2-for-4 with two triples.  Oviel Florentino was 2-for-4 and two walks.  Rusbel Farinez was 2-for-5 with a walk.
Key inning:  The eleventh.  The score was tied at five.  An error, a single, a bunt, and a sacrifice fly scored what turned out to be the winning run.
Other:  There were eight errors in the game, three charged to the Twins.
