Games of August 6

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 9, ROCHESTER 2 IN ROCHESTER

Batting star: Wilkin Ramirez was 2-for-4.
Pitching stars: Eric Hurley struck out two in a perfect inning. Catcher Rene Rivera pitched a scoreless inning, striking out one while giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: Brandon Laird was 3-for-5 with a home run, driving in four. Ramiro Pena was 3-for-5 with a double. Chase Whitley struck out three in four perfect innings.
Key inning: The first. The Yankees opened the game with three consecutive singles and had five singles in the inning, scoring three runs. That turned out to be all the runs Scranton/Wilkes-Barre needed.
Other: Outfielder Matt Carson also pitched one inning, allowing two runs on a hit and two walks.

BELOIT 5, WISCONSIN 3 IN BELOIT

Batting stars: Nate Roberts was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double. Miguel Sano hit his twenty-third home run.
Pitching stars: Corey Williams struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk. Zachary Jones retired all four batters he faced, striking out two.
Opposition stars: Cameron Garfield was 3-for-3 with two home runs and a walk. Lance Roenicke was 2-for-4 with a double. Stosh Wawrzasek struck out five in three shutout innings, allowing two hits.
Key inning: The third. The Snappers trailed 2-0. With one out, Adam Pettersen and Roberts hit back-to-back doubles. Following a walk, Eddie Rosario delivered a two-run double and Sano hit a two-run homer to put Beloit ahead 5-2.

DANVILLE AT ELIZABETHTON

Rained out.

GCL RAYS 4, TWINS 3 AT RAYS

Batting stars: None.
Pitching star: Starter Kuo Hua Lo worked four shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: Benjamin Kline was 2-for-4 with a double. Yoel Araujo was 2-for-4. Luis Cabrera allowed one run on four hits in 5.2 innings, striking out four.
Key inning: The sixth. Trailing 2-0, the Rays scored three times. With two on and two out, Kline doubled to tie the score. The Rays then took the lead on an RBI single by Araujo.
Other: Anthony Slama made a rehab appearance for the Twins. He pitched 1.2 innings, allowing a run on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

DSL TWINS 4, PADRES 2 AT PADRES

Batting star: Joel Polanco was 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Pitching stars: Ezequiel Zarzuela struck out three in two perfect innings. Argenis Silva threw two shutout innings, giving up a hit and two walks.
Opposition star: Ricardo Valenzuela was 2-for-4.
Key inning: The fifth. The Twins trailed 2-1. A pair of walks and a wild pitch put runners on second and third with none out. They were still there with two out, but Engelb Vielma singled to tie the score and an error put the Twins ahead 3-2.
