LEHIGH VALLEY 10, ROCHESTER 1 IN LEHIGH VALLEY

Batting stars:  Clete Thomas was 2-for-4 with a double.  Tsuyoshi Nishioka was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Pitching star:  Esmerling Vasquez threw two perfect innings.
Opposition star:  Pete Orr was 3-for-4.  Tug Hulett was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Tyler Cloyd struck out six in six innings, giving up a run on seven hits and two walks.
Key inning:  The first.  The IronPigs jumped out for four runs, and the Red Wings were never in the game.  A walk, two singles, and two doubles produced the runs.
Other:  Rochester had ten hits, but hit into five double plays.

NEW BRITAIN 5, TRENTON 4 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting star:  Oswaldo Arcia hit a game-winning two-run single in the ninth.
Pitching star:  Bruce Pugh pitched two shutout innings despite allowing three hits and two walks.
Opposition stars:  Abraham Almonte was 3-for-5 with a double, driving in three.  Jeffrey Farnham was 2-for-4 with a double.  Shaeffer Hall struck out seven in six shutout innings, walking three while giving up two hits.
Key inning:  The ninth.  The Rock Cats trailed 4-1.  A walk, a single, and a hit batsman loaded the bases with none out.  After a strikeout, James Beresford and Aaron Hicks each walked to make the score 4-3.  Arcia then singled to win the game.
Other:  New Britain was out-hit 11-4.  The Rock Cats drew eight walks.

CHARLOTTE 7, FORT MYERS 5 IN CHARLOTTE

Batting stars:  Lance Ray was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Daniel Ortiz was 1-for-1 with a home run, his third, and three walks.
Pitching star:  Miguel Munoz worked two shutout innings, allowing one hit.
Opposition stars:  Steven Tinoco and Lucas Bailey were each 2-for-4 with a double.  Theron Geith struck out five in two shutout innings.
Key inning:  The third.  Trailing 3-2, the Stone Crabs tallied four times.  A single and a pair of walks loaded the bases, and doubles by Tinoco and Bailey cashed in the runs.
Other:  In the bottom of the eighth, Charlotte scored an insurance run on three consecutive infield singles down the third base line…There were five errors in the game, two by the Miracle.

CLINTON 6, BELOIT 5 IN BELOIT

Batting stars:  Miguel Sano was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run (his sixteenth), and a walk.  Drew Leachman was 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk.  Steven Liddle was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Pitching stars:  Bart Carter and Clint Dempster each pitched a scoreless inning.
Opposition stars:  Ramon Morla was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.  Mario Yepez was 2-for-5 with a double.  Stephen Shackleford struck out four in two shutout innings.
Key inning:  The eighth.  Trailing 6-4, the Snappers put runners on first and third with none out.  After a strikeout, JaDamion Williams singled to make it 6-5 and move the tying run to third.  Tyler Grimes was caught looking and Nate Roberts flied out to end the inning.

ELIZABETHTON 14, PULASKI 1 IN ELIZABETHTON

Batting stars:  Rory Rhodes was 4-for-5 with a double and a home run (his third), driving in four.  Romy Jimenez was 3-for-5 with a double and two home runs (four on the season), scoring three times and driving in three.  Niko Goodrum was 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, driving in three.
Pitching stars:  Taylor Rogers struck out seven in four innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk.  Joshua Burris struck out three in three innings, allowing two hits.
Opposition stars:  Reginald Lawson was 2-for-4 with a double.  Nolan Diaz struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings.
Key inning:  The first.  The Twins scored five times to take control early.  Rhodes drove in one with a double, two scored on wild pitches, and two more scored on a Jimenez homer.  The Twins had two singles, two doubles, a walk, and a home run in the inning, batting eight.

GCL RAYS 4, TWINS 3 AT TWINS (GAME 1—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Javier Pimentel was 2-for-3 with a double.  Kelly Cross was 2-for-3.
Pitching star:  Starter Kuo Hua Lo threw three shutout innings, giving up two hits.
Opposition stars:  None.
Key inning:  The fifth.  The Twins had scored in the fourth to tie the game at three.  With two out, Jiminson Natera walked, stole second, went to third on an error, and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
Other:  The Twins made three errors and threw two wild pitches…Joe Benson is with the GCL Twins on a rehab assignment.

GCL TWINS 2, RAYS 1 AT RAYS (GAME 2—SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting star:  Jorge Fernandez was 2-for-3.
Pitching stars:  Sam Gibbons struck out two and walked two in two shutout innings.  Melciades De La Cruz allowed two hits and walked one in two shutout innings.
Opposition stars:  Benjamin Kline was 2-for-3.  Ryan McChesney was 1-for-1 with two walks.
Key inning:  The fourth.  The Twins trailed 1-0.  A walk, a single, and a bunt put runners on second and third with one out.  RBI singles by Fernandez and Bryan Santy gave the Twins the lead.

DSL ROCKIES 7, TWINS 5 AT TWINS

Batting star:  Jonatan Ynojoso was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Pitching star:  Javier Vargas gave up two runs on four hits and a walk in five innings.
Opposition stars:  Wilson Soriano was 4-for-5 with a double.  Antonio Senzatela gave up only one hit and no walks in six shutout innings.
Key inning:  The ninth.  The Twins had cut a 5-0 deficit to 5-3.  A double, an error, and a single gave the Rockies two important insurance runs in the top of the ninth.  The Twins rallied in the bottom of the inning to score two and put the tying run in scoring position with one out, but could go no farther.
Other:  The game featured six errors, two by the Twins.
