Games of June 12


INDIANAPOLIS 2, ROCHESTER 0 IN INDIANAPOLIS

Batting starsDanny Valencia and Wilkin Ramirez were each 2-for-4.
Pitching starsSamuel Deduno struck out five in four shutout innings, giving up one hit and three walks.  Carlos Gutierrez struck out two in 1.1 perfect innings.
Opposition star:  Rick Vanden Hurk struck out five, allowing five hits and a walk.
Key inning:  The sixth.  Leading 1-0, the Indians used to walks and a Brian Friday single to score an insurance run.
Other:  The Red Wings have been shut out in consecutive games and have a total of one run in their last three games.

AKRON AT NEW BRITAIN

Rained out.  Will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

FORT MYERS 5, BRADENTON 3 IN FORT MYERS

Batting starDaniel Rams hit a grand slam.
Pitching starsJose Gonzalez and Dakota Watts each worked two shutout innings, each striking out three and each allowing one hit.
Opposition stars:  Gift Ngoepe was 4-for-5 with a double.  Dan Grovatt was 3-for-4 with a double.  Jason Townsend threw three shutout innings.
Key inning:  The first.  With one out in a scoreless tie, Levi Michael doubled and Jairo Perez singled to give the Miracle a 1-0 lead.  A single and a hit batsman loaded the bases with two out, and Rams hit a grand slam.  Fort Myers would get only one more hit in the game, but the five runs were enough.
Other:  The Marauders out-hit the Miracle 9-5, but stranded ten.

BELOIT 5, PEORIA 4 IN BELOIT

Batting starAdam Pettersen was 2-for-4 and drove in two.
Pitching starMichael Tonkin struck out all six batters he faced.
Opposition stars:  Javier Baez was 2-for-4.  Larry Suarez pitched two shutout innings.
Key inning:  The fourth.  Trailing 3-1, the Snappers scored four times.  A walk and two errors plated two of the runs.  Tyler Grimes hit an RBI double, and a sacrifice fly scored one more.
Other:  Vote for Snappy D. Turtle in the final four of Mascot Mania!

DSL ROCKIES 6, TWINS 3 AT TWINS

Batting starCarlos Martinez was 2-for-3 with a double and was hit by a pitch.
Pitching starJose Jimenez worked three no-hit innings, walking two.
Opposition stars:  Emerson Jimenez and Denzel Richardson each went 2-for-4.  Manuel Montilla retired all seven batters he faced.
Key inning:  The ninth.  Leading 4-3, the Rockies scored two more to put the game out of reach.  Wilson Soriano doubled in one run and Henry Garcia singled in another.
Other:  The Rockies have a player named Miguel Dilone.  It is unclear whether he’s related to the former big league outfielder.
