Games of June 3


COLUMBUS 1, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER (SUSPENDED)

The game is in the fifth inning.  It will be completed today before the regularly scheduled game.

HARRISBURG 6, NEW BRITAIN 1 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting stars:  Rene Tosoni and Evan Bigley each doubled.  The Rock Cats had only three hits.
Pitching star:  Bruce Pugh struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars:  Eury Perez was 3-for-4 and drove in two.  Chris Rahl was 3-for-5.  Kevin Pucetas allowed one run on three hits in six innings.
Key inning:  The eighth.  Leading 3-1, the Senators scored three to put the game out of reach.  They got three singles, but were aided by two New Britain errors.

FORT MYERS 4, DAYTONA 0 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Josmil Pinto was 2-for-4 with a double.  Oswaldo Arcia was 1-for-2 with a home run (his seventh) and two walks.
Pitching stars:  Madison Boer struck out five and surrendered only one hit and two walks in five innings.  Nelvin Fuentes walked three but yielded no hits in 2.2 innings.  Matthew Hauser retired all four men he faced.
Opposition stars:  A. J. Morris pitched two shutout innings.  Greg Rohan got the only Cubs hit.
Key inning:  The first.  In a scoreless tie, Arcia hit a two out, two run homer to give the Miracle the early lead.
Other:  This was Boer’s first good outing at high A.  He lowered his ERA to 9.39.

WISCONSIN 3, BELOIT 1 IN BELOIT

Batting stars:  Eddie Rosario was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run.  Kyle Knudson was 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Pitching star:  Tyler Jones gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk while striking out five in six innings.
Opposition star:  Drew Gagnon worked eight innings, allowing one run on seven hits.
Key inning:  The seventh.  Leading 2-1, Cameron Garfield hit an RBI double to provide an important insurance run for the Timber Rattlers.
Other:  The Snappers were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
