Games of June 2


ROCHESTER 3, COLUMBUS 1 IN ROCHESTER (GAME 1--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting star:  Wilkin Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in two.
Pitching stars:  Luke French worked five innings, giving up three hits and five walks.  Lester Oliveros struck out three in two perfect innings.
Opposition stars:  None
Key inning:  The first.  In the top of the inning, the Clippers put runners on first and second with one out but did not score.  In the bottom, Pedro Florimondrew a one out walk and scored on a double by Ramirez.  Ramirez took third on the throw home and scored on a ground out to give Rochester a 2-0 lead.

COLUMBUS 1, ROCHESTER 0 IN ROCHESTER (GAME 2--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Clete Thomas was 2-for-3 with a double.  Tsuyoshi Niskioka was 2-for-3.
Pitching stars:  David Bromberg allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out five in three innings.  Esmerling Vasquez pitched two scoreless innings, surrendering only a walk.  Casey Fien struck out three in two perfect innings.
Opposition stars:  Jared Goedert was 2-for-3.  Chris Seddon struck out seven in 6.1 innings, yielding six hits and a walk.
Key inning:  The seventh.  With the Red Wings trailing 1-0, Thomas doubled and took third on an error with one out.  The next two batters grounded out to end the game.

HARRISBURG 4, NEW BRITAIN 3 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting star:  Deibinson Romero hit a two run homer, his sixth.
Pitching stars:  Brett Jacobson walked one in 1.1 scoreless innings.  Luis Perdomo pitched a scoreless inning.
Opposition stars:  Manny Mayorson and Jesus Valdez were each 2-for-4 with a double.  Daniel Rosenbaum gave up two runs on five hits and three walks in 7.2 innings.
Key inning:  The first.  The Senators opened the game with two singles and a double, scoring two before anyone was out.  A third run scored in the inning, and the Rock Cats never caught up.

DAYTONA 10, FORT MYERS 5 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Oswaldo Arcia was 4-for-5 with a double and a home run (his sixth), driving in three.  Daniel Santana was 3-for-5.  Jairo Perez was 2-for-3 with two walks.
Pitching star:  Andy Leer, normally an infielder, pitched a perfect ninth.
Opposition stars:  John Andreoli was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring three times.  Rubi Silva was 3-for-5 with a double.  Ryan Searle struck out three in three shutout innings.
Key inning:  The eighth.  The Miracle had scored two in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-3.  The Cubs tallied four in the eighth to put the game out of reach.  Arismendy Alcantara hit a two run double and Nelson Perez had a two run single.

BELOIT 9, WISCONSIN 5 IN BELOIT

Batting stars:  Nate Roberts was 3-for-5 with a double, driving in two.  Miguel Sano was 2-for-4 with a double.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-5 with a double.
Pitching star:  Corey Williams allowed one hit in a scoreless inning.  Michael Tonkin struck out two in a perfect inning.
Opposition stars:  Brandon Macias was 3-for-5 with a double.  Jason Rogers was 2-for-4 with a double.  Tyler Cravy struck out three in three shutout innings.
Key inning:  The fifth.  Trailing 5-2, the Timber Rattlers scored twice in the top of the inning to cut the lead to one.  The Snappers then used three walks, three singles, three stolen bases, and a balk to score five times and take control of the game.  Roberts drove in two with a single.

DSL TWINS 5, ORIOLES 0 AT TWINS

Batting stars:  Jonatan Ynojoso  was 3-for-4 with a triple.  Adonis Pacheco was 2-for-3 with a triple.
Pitching stars:  Fernando Romero struck out three in four innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Jose Jimenez allowed one hit in two innings.
Opposition star:  Miguel Garcia struck out five in five innings, allowing a run on four hits.
Key inning:  The seventh.  Leading 1-0, the Twins struck for four runs.  A double, three singles, a walk, and two errors produced the runs.
