Games of June 9


ROCHESTER 2, INDIANAPOLIS 0 IN INDIANAPOLIS

Batting stars:  Clete Thomas was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Wilkin Ramirez was 1-for-2 with two walks.
Pitching star:  Liam Hendriks struck out ten in 8.2 innings, giving up three hits and two walks.
Opposition stars:  Starling Marte was 2-for-4.  Daniel Cabrera allowed two runs on five hits and two walks in 6.1 innings.
Key inning:  The seventh.  Two walks and a hit batsman loaded the bases.  An infield out scored one run, and a single by Rene Rivera scored another.

NEW BRITAIN 6, ERIE 0 IN ERIE


Batting stars:  Chris Herrmann was 4-for-5 with a double.  Chris Colabello was 3-for-5 with a home run, his tenth.  Evan Bigley was 3-for-5 with two doubles.
Pitching stars:  Andrew Albers struck out four in six innings, surrendering five hits and no walks.  Caleb Thielbar worked two no hit, no run innings.
Opposition stars:  Brandon Douglas was 2-for-4.  Kevin De La Cruz struck out five in five innings, allowing a run on seven hits and two walks.
Key inning:  The seventh.  Leading 1-0, the Rock Cats scored twice when Colabello homered and Herrmann doubled and scored on a wild pitch-plus-error.  In the bottom of the inning, the SeaWolves put runners on second and third with two out but could not score.

PALM BEACH 3, FORT MYERS 2 IN PALM BEACH

Batting stars:  Josmil Pinto was 1-for-3 with a triple and a walk.  Oswaldo Arcia was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.
Pitching star:  Pat Dean worked four shutout innings, giving up just two hits.
Opposition stars:  Starlin Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double.  Ryan Sherriff struck out six in six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk.
Key inning:  The fifth.  Trailing 2-0 with two out and none on and with the Miracle appearing to be in control of the game, the Cardinals put together four consecutive singles to tie the game.
Other:  Arcia left the game in the fifth inning for no apparent reason.

WISCONSIN 4, BELOIT 0 IN WISCONSIN

Batting stars:  Drew Leachman was 2-for-4 with a double.  Nate Roberts was 2-for-4.
Pitching stars:  None.
Opposition stars:  Gregory Hopkins was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.  Drew Gagnon struck out eight in 6.1 innings, surrendering five hits and a walk.  Tommy Toledo retired all eight batters he faced, striking out four of them.
Key inning:  The second.  In a scoreless tie, Hopkins hit a solo homer.  It was followed by two singles, two walks, and a hit batsman, forcing in two more runs for a 3-0 Timber Rattlers lead.

DSL TWINS 7, REDS 4 AT TWINS

Batting star:  Junior Boni was 1-for-3 with a double, driving in three.
Pitching stars:  Argenis Silva struck out four in three shutout innings, yielding only a walk.  Edgar Martinez struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Opposition star:  Rusbel Farinez was 2-for-4 with a double, driving in two.
Key inning:  The second.  Leading 2-0, the Reds scored to stretch the lead to three.  In the bottom of the inning, a walk, a strikeout/wild pitch, and a single loaded the bases.  Jonatan Ynojoso walked to force in a run, and Boni doubled to score three and put the Twins ahead.
Other:  The Twins scored seven runs on three hits.  There were seven errors in the game, four by the Reds and three by the Twins.
