Games of June 6

ROCHESTER 4, NORFOLK 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars: Sean Burroughs hit a two run homer. Wilkin Ramirez hit a solo homer.
Pitching stars: Steve Hirschfeld worked five shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks in his AAA debut. Lester Oliveros struck out two in two shutout innings, allowing only a walk.
Opposition stars: Chris Robinson was 3-for-4. Chris Tillman struck out seven in 6.2 innings, surrendering two runs on a hit and a walk.
Key inning: The seventh. In the top of the inning, with the score tied at one, the Tides put runners on first and third with one out but failed to score. In the bottom of the inning, Burroughs hit a two out, two run homer off ex-Twin Willie Eyre.
Other: Ex-Twin J. C. Romero also pitched for Norfolk...Anthony Slama took a batted ball off his leg and was removed from the game...The Red Wings were no-hit for five innings before Ramirez homered to lead off the sixth.

AKRON 6, NEW BRITAIN 4 IN AKRON

Batting stars: James Beresford was 2-for-3 with a walk. Chris Herrmann was 2-for-5. Rene Tosoni was 1-for-3 with a homer and two walks.
Pitching stars: Daniel Turpen retired all five batters he faced. Bruce Pugh pitched a perfect inning, striking out two.
Opposition stars: Roberto Perez was 3-for-4 with two doubles, driving in four. Jose De La Torre struck out five in 2.2 scoreless innings.
Key inning: The fifth. In a see-saw game, the Rock Cats were trailing 4-3. Three singles loaded the bases with one out, but Evan Bigley fanned and Matt Rizzotti fouled out. The Aeros scored an important insurance run in the bottom of the inning.

FORT MYERS 3, TAMPA 0 IN TAMPA (GAME 1--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting stars: Anderson Hidalgo was 3-for-3. Michael Gonzales was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.
Pitching stars: Cole Nelson struck out nine in five innings, yielding just two hits and three walks. Ricky Bowen struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up three hits.
Opposition star: Sean Black allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out five in five innings.
Key inning: The third. In a scoreless tie, Gonzales doubled and Hidalgo singled to put runners on first and third. An error scored one run and another scored on a wild pitch to give the Miracle a 2-0 lead.

FORT MYERS AT TAMPA (GAME 2--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

The game was suspended in the fourth inning with the Miracle leading 2-0. The game will be completed tonight before the regularly scheduled game.

BURLINGTON 5, BELOIT 0 IN BURLINGTON

Batting star: Nate Roberts was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Pitching star: Tim Atherton struck out six in three shutout innings, allowing a hit and a walk.
Opposition stars: Ryan Pineda was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple. Douglas Landaeta was 2-for-4 with a home run. Drew Granier worked seven innings, surrendering five hits and two walks.
Key inning: The fifth. Already leading 3-0, the Bees scored twice in the inning. The big hit was Pineda' RBI triple.
Other: The following Snappers were named to the all-star team: A. J. Achter, Jonathan Goncalves, Tyler Grimes, Eddie Rosario, Miguel Sano, Michael Tonkin, and Jason Wheeler.

DSL CUBS1 5, TWINS 2 AT TWINS

Batting star: Eddy Concepcion hit a home run.
Pitching stars: Jose Abreu and Javier Vargas each pitched a scoreless inning.
Opposition stars: Roney Alcala was 2-for-2 and was hit by a pitch. Daniel Adrian struck out six in four innings, surrendering a run on a hit and a walk. Jose Paulino struck out ten in four innings, yielding an unearned run on two hits.
Key inning: Trailing 3-1, the Twins scored on a single, an error, and two wild pitches to come within one, but stranded runners on second and third. In the bottom of the inning, Roberto Caro delivered a two run single to end the scoring.
