Mexican League: Game of January 21


Hermosillo takes game one of the championship series.

HERMOSILLO 4, NAVOJOA 0 IN HERMOSILLO

Navojoa:  John Lindsey was 2-for-4 with a double.  Rolando Acosta was 2-for-3 with a double.
Hermosillo:  Carlos Alberto Gastelum was 1-for-2 with three walks.  Zelous Wheeler (Yankees) was 1-for-4 with a walk and a double, driving in one.  Barry Enright pitched 6.2 innings, allowing seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
The game:  Hermosillo opened the scoring in the third when Jerry Owens reached on an error, stole second, and scored on a Wheeler double.  Another run scored in the fourth on two singles, a walk, and a force out.  Hermosillo added two in the fifth on a single and two errors to make it 4-0.  Navojoa made five errors in the game.  Navojoa's best scoring chance came in the second, when they got a pair of one-out singles, but a double play ended the inning.

Hermosillo takes a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven championship series.
