Games of May 15


ROCHESTER 5, LOUISVILLE 4 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Ben Revere was 3-for-5.  Sean Burroughs was 2-for-4 with a double.  Wilkin Ramirez was 2-for-4.
Pitching star:  Esmerling Vasquez struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up just one hit.
Opposition stars:  Miguel Rojas was 2-for-4.  Bill Rhinehart hit a home run.
Key inning:  The eighth.  Trailing 4-3, Ramirez and Clete Thomas opened the inning with singles.  An infield out scored Ramirez.  Sean Burroughsdelivered a two out double to drive in what turned out to be the winning run.
Other:  Ramirez was making his debut with Rochester.

NEW HAMPSHIRE AT NEW BRITAIN

Both games of a doubleheader were rained out.

CHARLOTTE 3, FORT MYERS 2 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Jairo PerezOswaldo Arcia, and Anderson Hidalgo were each 2-for-4.
Pitching star:  Cole Nelson struck out five in four shutout innings of relief, allowing only one hit.
Opposition stars:  Robby Price and Philip Wunderlich were each 2-for-4 and Steven Tinoco was 2-for-3.
Key inning:  The ninth.  In a 2-2 tie, the Stone Crabs had runners on first and third with one out.  Wunderlich hit a doubleplay grounder to first, but pitcher Ricky Bowen dropped the return throw from the shortstop, allowing the go-ahead run to score.

BELOIT 1, CLINTON 0 IN BELOIT

Batting star:  Tyler Grimes was 2-for-3.
Pitching star:  Tim Shibuya pitched a nine-inning complete game shutout, striking out nine while walking none and allowing just three hits.
Opposition stars:  Mario Yepez was 2-for-4.  Jordan Shippers pitched seven shutout innings, giving up six hits and a walk.
Key inning:  The eighth.  In a scoreless tie, the Snappers opened with back-to-back walks.  With one out, JaDamion Williams singled in Wang-wei Linfor the only run of the game.
