Puerto Rican League: Game of December 9

Enrique Hernandez leads Carolina to victory.

CAROLINA 6, MAYAGUEZ 3 IN MAYAGUEZ

Twins:  Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 0-for-3 with a walk.
Carolina:  Luis Matos was 2-for-4 with a walk and two doubles.  Enrique Hernandez (Houston) was 3-for-5 with a home run (his third) and four RBIs.  Jesus Feliciano was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
Mayaguez:  T. J. Rivera (Mets) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run homer.  Luis Figueroa was 2-for-4 with a double.  Jonathan Albaladejo pitched five innings, allowing two runs on nine hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
The game:  Hernandez hit a two-run homer to give Carolina a 2-0 lead before anyone was retired in the first inning.  It remained 2-0 until the sixth, when Feliciano and Hernandez each had an RBI single to make it 4-0.  Mayaguez got back into it in the bottom of the sixth when Rivera hit a one-out three-run homer.  That was as close as they would come, however, as Hernandez and Ruben Gotay each had an RBI single to build the lead to 6-3.  Mayaguez did not have a hit after the Rivera homer in the sixth.
