Games of July 3


A solid outing by Andrew Albers. Lots of offense for Fort Myers. If you'll hang in there with me another day or two, we'll get all caught up yet.

ROCHESTER 11, BUFFALO 1 IN BUFFALO

Batting stars: Deibinson Romero was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a home run (his fifth), scoring twice. Chris Herrmann was 2-forr-4 with a walk, a double, and a trriple, scorrinng twice and drrivinng in one. Doug Bernier was 3-for-6, scoring once and driving in one.
Pitching stars: Andrew Albers struck out six in seven innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks. Cody Eppley pitched two shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk while striking out one.
Opposition stars: Kevin Pillar was 2-for-4 with a home run. Jim Negrych was 2-for-3.
Key inning: The fifth. The Bisons scored in the fourth to cut the Red Wings lead to 2-1. In the fifth, Antoan Richardson and Bernier each singled and Jeff Clement delivered a two-run double to give Rochester a 4-1 advantage.
Prospect” watch: Chris Colabello was 1-for-4 with a walk and a home run, his twenty-first.

NEW HAMPSHIRE 6, NEW BRITAIN 1 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting stars: Danny Santana was 2-for-4. Nate Hanson was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once. Dan Rohlfing was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Pitching stars: A. J. Achter pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. B. J. Hermsen gave up two hits in a scoreless inning with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Sean Nolin struck out seven in 6.2 scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks. Ryan Schimpf was 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a two-run homer. Brad Glenn was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in one.
Key inning: The first. With two out and none on, A. J. Jimenez singled, Glenn doubled, and Clint Robinson delivered a two-run single to put the Fisher Cats up 2-0 before the Rock Cats came to bat.
Prospect watch: Eddie Rosario was 1-for-4. Josmil Pinto was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Miguel Sano was 0-for-4.

FORT MYERS 11, BRADENTON 5 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars: Mike Kvasnicka was 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, scoring three times and driving in one. Candido Pimentel was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two. Levi Michael was 2-for-5 with a double and a triple, scoring twice and driving in three.
Pitching stars: Taylor Rogers pitched 6.2 innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and a walk. Corey Williams retired all four batters he faced, three by strikeout.
Opposition stars: Willy Garcia was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in two. Jose Osuna was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Kirk Singer was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Key inning: The seventh. Leading 5-3, the Miracle scored six times to put the game out of reach. Two singles and an error scored the first run. Michael hit a two-run triple and scored on a single by Pimentel. Byron Buxton singled, and Aderlin Mejia hit a two-run double.
Prospect watch: Buxton was 3-for-5 with a double and scored once. Mejia was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.

BELOIT 9, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN BELOIT

Batting stars: J. D. Williams was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once. Jorge Polanco was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Max Kepler was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Pitching stars: None.
Opposition stars: Chris Bostick was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, scoring twice and driving in four. Daniel Robertson was 3-for-5 and scored twice. Renato Nunez was 2-for-5 and scored once.
Key inning: The fourth. The Kernels had scored two in the third to make it 3-2 Snappers. Matt Olson led off with a single for Beloit, and John Wooten followed with a two-run homer to put the Snappers back in control of the game.

JOHNSON CITY AT ELIZABETHTON

Rained out.

GCL TWINS 8, GCL RAYS 2 (5 ½ INNINGS--RAIN)

Batting stars: Joel Polanco was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Zach Larson was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice. Alex Swim was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once.
Pitching stars: Leonel Zazueta struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: Riley Unroe was 2-for-3. Taylor Hawkins was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Key inning: The third. The Twins trailed 1-0. A walk, a single, and a balk tied the score. Singles by Swim and Polanco put the Twins ahead and a passed ball gave them a 3-1 lead.
Prospect watch: Amuarys Minier was 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Swim was 1-for-3 with a walk. Adonis Pacheco was 1-for-4 with a walk.

DSL DIAMONDBACKS 12, DSL TWINS 10

Batting stars: Francis Mateo was 2-for-6 with a double and a triple, scoring once and driving in five. Frank Encarnacion was 2-for-5 with a walk and two doubles, scoring once and driving in three. Rafael P. Valera was 3-for-5 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in one.
Pitching stars: Ezequiel Zarzuela pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts. Jhon Silva struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up no hits and two walks.
Opposition stars: Raul Santana was 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a home run, scoring three times and driving in two. Fernery Ozuna was 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in one.
Key inning: The fourth. The Diamondbacks had scored six in the third, but the Twins came right back with three to trail 6-3. In the fourth, though, a pair of singles and a two-out, two-run double by Henry Castillo made it 8-3. The Twins were able to climb back within two runs, but did not get any closer.

Prospect watch: Joel Ramirez was 1-for-3 with two walks, scoring twice and driving in one.
