Games of June 28

We start getting caught up.  Good rehab games for Byron Buxton and Jorge Polanco.  A big day for Brent Rooker.  A similar big day for Caleb Hamilton.  Yunior Severino plays like Senior Severino.  The GCL Twins can't hold a lead.  A good game for Jesus Toledo.

ROCHESTER 2, SYRACUSE 1 IN SYRACUSE (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

RBI singles by Nick Gordon in the third and Leonardo Reginnato in the fourth gave the Red Wings a 2-0 lead.  The lone Chiefs run came on a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Byron Buxton was 2-for-3, raising his average to .240.  Jorge Polanco, in his first rehab game in Rochester, was also 2-for-3.  Ryan LaMarre was 0-for-3 and is batting .342.
Fernando Romero pitched six innings, giving up one run on six hits and two walks and striking out one.  His ERA is 2.33.  John Curtiss pitched a perfect inning, striking out one, and has an ERA of 2.12.

ROCHESTER 7, SYRACUSE 5 IN SYRACUSE (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

The Red Wings trailed 5-1 through four, but scored two in the fifth and four in the seventh to win the game.  Nick Gordon hit a three-run homer in the seventh to drive in the tying and lead runs.
LaMonte Wade was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs.  Juan Graterol, in his Rochester debut, went 2-for-3.  Jorge Polanco was 2-for-4 with a triple, making his average .571.  Ryan LaMarre was 1-for-3 and is batting .341.  Byron Buxton was 0-for-4 and is batting .207.
It was a bullpen game.  D. J. Baxendale started and pitched 2.1 innings, giving up three hits and a walk and striking out two.  Nick Anderson struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  Gabriel Moya pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 1.74.

TENNESSEE 7, CHATTANOOGA 5 IN TENNESSEE

The Lookouts came back from deficits of 3-0 and 5-2 to tie it 5-5, but Ian Rice hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to win it for the Smokies.
Brent Rooker was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his twelfth and thirteenth) and a double, scoring three times.  Andy Wilkins was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his fourth.  He is batting .385.  Brian Navarreto was 1-for-4 with a home run, his third.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 0-for-4 and is batting .310.  Zander Weil was 1-for-4 and is batting .305.
Omar Bencomo struck out six in six innings, but allowed five runs on six hits and no walks.

FORT MYERS 13, TAMPA 0 IN FORT MYERS

It was scoreless through three, but the Miracle scored in each of the last six innings.  Their biggest inning was a five-run seventh, which featured a three-run double by Caleb Hamilton.
Hamilton was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his third and fourth) in addition to the double.  He scored three times and drove in five.  Luis Arraez was 3-for-4 with a double and two walks.  He scored twice, drove in two, and is batting .319.  Mark Contreras was 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs.  Shane Carrier was 2-for-5 with a home run, his third.  Lewin Diaz was 2-for-5 with two runs.
Charlie Barnes pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks and striking out two.  Hector Lujan struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

CEDAR RAPIDS AT BURLINGTON

Rained out.

DANVILLE 11, ELIZABETHTON 2 IN DANVILLE

The Braves scored three in the second, four in the third, and three in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead.  The Twins' lone run came on an RBI single by Yunior Severino in the fifth.
Severino was 4-for-5 and is batting .500.  Ricky De La Torre was 2-for-4 with a double and is batting .360.  Lean Marrero was 0-for-2 with a walk and is batting .438.  Ryan Jeffers was 0-for-5 and is batting .433.  Trevor Casanova was 1-for-4 and is batting .368.  DaShawn Keirsey was 0-for-4 and is batting .304.
Tyler Palm pitched just two innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks.  Johan Quezada pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one walk and striking out two.  His ERA is zero through four innings.  Ricky Ramirez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk and striking out one.  His ERA is zero through three innings.

GCL RAYS 12, GCL TWINS 11 AT TWINS (11 INNINGS)

The Twins had leads of 2-0, 7-2, and 9-6, but needed a run in the bottom of the ninth to send it to extras.  Each team scored once in the tenth.  Kaleo Johnson doubled home the go-ahead run in the top of the eleventh.  A wild pitch put the tying run on third with one out in the bottom of the inning, but a ground out and a strikeout ended the game.
Janigson Villalobos was 3-for-3 with a triple and a double and is batting .308.  Yeison Perez was 3-for-5 with a home run and a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  Gabe Snyder was 3-for-6 with a home run and scored twice.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 2-for-6 with a double and two runs and is batting .342.
Prelander Berroa pitched four innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and two walks and striking out three.

DSL TWINS 8, DSL PHILLIES RED 2 AT PHILLIES RED

The Twins scored two in the first, fifth, eighth, and ninth.  The Phillies Red got single runs in the third and sixth.
Ruben Santana was 2-for-4 with a triple and a double.  He scored twice and drove in two.  He is batting .364.  Jeferson Morales was 2-for-4 with a walk and three runs.  He is batting .351.  Brahiap Carrillo was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.  He is batting .318.  Victor Heredia was 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs and is batting .302.
Jesus Toledo pitched five innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk and striking out four.  Jose Guevera pitched two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.  His ERA is 0.63.
