Games of July 20

Ervin Santana has another good rehab start.  Zander Wiel's grand slam leads the Lookouts.  Royce Lewis hits his first high-A home run.  Bailey Ober has yet another really good start.  A late rally falls short for the E-Twins.  Erick Rivera gets the big hit for the GCL Twins.  Jeferson Morales gets the big hit for the DSL Twins.

NORFOLK 7, ROCHESTER 2 IN ROCHESTER

It was 1-1 through six, but the Tides scored five in the seventh to take control of the game.  Luis Sardinas had a two-run single in the inning.
Juan Graterol was 3-for-4 with a double.  Alex Perez was 3-for-5 and is batting .333.  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-4 with a home run, his second.  The home run broke a string of twenty-eight scoreless innings by the Red Wings.
Ervin Santana pitched six innings, giving up one run on two hits and three walks and striking out one.

CHATTANOOGA 9, MOBILE 2 IN MOBILE

It was 3-2 through seven, but the Lookouts put the game out of reach with six runs in the eighth.  Zander Wiel hit a grand slam to kill the rally.
Mitchell Kranson was 2-for-4 with two doubles.  Wiel was 2-for-5 with two home runs (his fifth and sixth) and five RBIs.  He is batting .305.  Brent Rooker was 1-for-3 with a home run (his seventeenth) and two walks.  Jordan Gore was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs.  He is batting .310.
Chattanooga seems to be using Paco Rodriguez as an "opener'.  This is his second consecutive start, and each time he has gone one inning.  It was a scoreless inning, as he gave up only a walk.  Sean Poppen then came in and pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one run on six hits and a walk and striking out four.  Ryne Harper struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 2.70.

FORT MYERS 11, LAKELAND 6 IN FORT MYERS

The Flying Tigers led 4-0 through three, but the Miracle scored seven in the fourth and four in the fifth.  Royce Lewis hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning.
Taylor Grzelakowski was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs.  Ben Rortvedt was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in two.  Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-5 with two doubles and is batting .324.  Lewis was 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs and is batting .357.
Brusdar Graterol struck out seven in six innings but allowed four runs on five hits and three walks.

CEDAR RAPIDS 1, GREAT LAKES 0 IN GREAT LAKES

Jose Miranda's RBI double in the eighth brought home the game's lone run.  The teams combined for eight hits, with each team getting four.
Miranda was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Robby Rinn was 0-for-4 and is batting .308.
Bailey Ober struck out twelve in eight innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.  He has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts, dropping his ERA from 7.86 to 3.88.  Ricky Ramirez struck out two in a perfect inning.

GREENEVILLE 11, ELIZABETHTON 9 IN ELIZABETHTON

The Twins trailed 10-3 before scoring some late runs to make it close.  They closed to within 10-9 and had the tying run on base in both the eighth and the ninth.
Yeltsin Encarnacion was 4-for-5 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in three.  He is batting .500.  Ryan Jeffers was 3-for-5 with a walk and is batting .408.  Alex Robles was 3-for-5 and is batting .348.  Trevor Larnach was 2-for-4 with two walks and two RBIs.  He is batting .364.  Trevor Casanova was 2-for-6 with a double and is batting .321.  Yunior Severino was 1-for-4 with two walks and two runs.  He is batting .316.
Carlos Suniaga pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing six runs (five earned) on four hits and three walks and striking out one.  Blair Lasko struck out four in 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and three walks.  His ERA is 2.35.

GCL TWINS 4, GCL RED SOX 3 AT TWINS

It was 3-1 Red Sox after two and stayed there through six.  The Twins scored three in the seventh, with the tying and lead runs coming home a double by Erick Rivera.  The Red Sox did not get a hit after the fifth inning.
Victor Tademo was 2-for-4.  Hunter Lee was 0-for-2 in his first game with the GCL Twins.
Landon Leach struck out four in 3.2 innings but allowed three runs on four hits and two walks.  Denny Bentley pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.  His ERA is 2.89.  Tyler Benninghoff pitched a perfect inning.  Dylan Stowell struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up two walks.

DSL TWINS 5, DSL NATIONALS 4 AT NATIONALS

The Twins started the scoring with three in the fifth, but the Nationals took the lead with four in the sixth.  The Twins scored two in the seventh to take the lead to stay, with the lead run coming on a Jeferson Morales single.  The Nationals had men on second and third with none out in the ninth but did not score.
Victor Heredia was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and is batting .364.  Ruben Santana was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .317.  Morales was 1-for-5 and is batting .310.
Anthony Escobar pitched 5.1 innings, giving up three unearned runs on four hits and a walk and striking out four.  His ERA is 1.10.  Rafael Feliz pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.  Danny Moreno pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out one.  His ERA is 1.84.
