Games of April 4


Brandon is Waring well in New Britain.  Big innings carry Fort Myers.  Rain stops the Red Wings and the Kernels.

ROCHESTER AT BUFFALO

Rained out.

NEW BRITAIN 4, RICHMOND 3 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting stars:  Brandon Waring was 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a home run, scoring twice.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Nate Hanson was 1-for-3 with a walk, scoring twice.
Pitching stars Ryan O'Rourke pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out one, to get the win.  Lester Oliveros pitched a perfect ninth to get the save.
Opposition stars:  Clayton Blackburn pitched five innings, giving up one run on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts.  Jarrett Parker was 2-for-4 with a run.  Angel Villalona was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The game:  It was close all the way.  Villalona came through with a two-out single in the first to give Richmond a 1-0 lead.  The Rock Cats tied it in the fourth on an RBI double by Rodriguez.  Richmond got single runs in the fifth and sixth to go ahead 3-1, but New Britain scored twice in the bottom of the sixth, getting three walks in the inning, to tie it at three.  It stayed tied until the eighth, when Waring hit a one-out homer for what turned out to be the winning run.
Of note Kennys Vargas was 1-for-4.  D. J. Baxendale started and pitched 4.2 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

FORT MYERS 11, JUPITER 6 IN JUPITER

Batting stars Niko Goodrum was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer, scoring twice.  Levi Michael was 1-for-4 with a double and a sacrifice fly, scoring once and driving in three.
Pitching stars Tyler Duffey pitched six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
Opposition stars:  Ryan Goetz was 3-for-5 with a double and scored twice.  Terrence Dayleg was 3-for-5 with three RBIs.  Austin Barnes was 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs.
The game:  Fort Myers broke a scoreless tie with a five-run second.  A two-run double by Michael and an RBI double by Jorge Polanco capped off the inning.  Jupiter scored one in the third and two in the fifth to close to 5-3, but the Miracle put the game away with a four-run seventh.  Goodrum drove in one with a double and Walker II hit a three-run homer in the inning.
Of note Polanco was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.  Dalton Hicks was 0-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Max Kepler was 0-for-4 with a walk and a run.
