Games of April 17


Twins affiliates go winless.  Fort Myers will have to settle for 143-1.  A good outing for Pat Dean.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 7, ROCHESTER 0 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Brandon Boggs was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Jeff Clement was 2-for-4.
Pitching stars:  Anthony Slama pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Opposition stars:  Graham Stoneburner pitched six innings, allowing four hits and no walks.  David Adams was 3-for-4 with a walk and scored twice.  Melky Mesa was 2-for-5 with a double and scored once.
Key inning:  The sixth.  Leading 3-0, the RailRiders put together four singles, three with none out, to score twice and put the game away.  The damage was done off Liam Hendriks.

NEW HAMPSHIRE 3, NEW BRITAIN 2 IN NEW BRITAIN (11 INNINGS)

Batting stars:  Josmil Pinto was 2-for-5 and scored once.  Curt Smith was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Pitching stars:  Pat Dean pitched seven innings, giving up one run on seven hits and no walks.  A. J. Achter struck out two in a perfect inning.
Opposition stars:  Tyson Brummett pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk.  Clint Robinson was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  John Tolisano was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
Key inning:  The eleventh.  The Rock Cats had scored two in the ninth to tie the score at two.  Ryan Schimpf led off the eleventh with a single, took second on a balk, went to third on a ground out, and scored on a Robinson single.  The run was scored off Aaron Thompson.

PALM BEACH 5, FORT MYERS 3 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Michael Gonzales was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored once.  Matt Koch was 2-for-4 with a double.  Kyle Knudson was 2-for-4 and scored once.
Pitching stars:  Adrian Salcedo retired all four men he faced, three by strikeout.  Miguel Munoz gave up one hit in 1.2 scoreless innings.
Opposition stars:  Danny Stienstra was 3-for-4 with a double.  Nicholas Longmire was 2-for-5 with a double and a triple, driving in two.  Jonathan Cornelius struck out four in two perfect innings.
Key inning:  The ninth.  Trailing 5-2, the Miracle put together four consecutive one-out singles, scoring once and loading the bases.  Heath Wyatt then got Angel Morales to hit into a double play to end the game.
