Games of April 15


Fort Myers is perfect. A good day for Joe Benson. Logan Darnell and Tom Stuifbergen pitch very well.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 10, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars: Joe Benson was 3-for-4 and scored once. Eric Farris was 2-for-4.
Pitching stars: Michael O'Connor pitched a perfect innings, striking out one.
Opposition stars: Vidal Nuno struck out eight in six shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk. Zoilo Almonte was 4-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk, scoring twice. Corban Joseph was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer, scoring twice.
Key inning: The third. Leading 1-0, the RailRiders got a three-run homer from Almonte off P. J. Walters with one out to go ahead 4-0. Rochester was never closer than that again.

NEW BRITAIN 5, NEW HAMPSHIRE 3 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting stars: Danny Santana was 2-for-3 with two walks. Jason Christian was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. James Beresford was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Pitching stars: Logan Darnell struck out eight in 6.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and three walks. Aaron Thompson struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and no walks.
Opposition stars: Sean Ochinko was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. Clint Robinson was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.
Key inning: The sixth. Trailing 1-0, the Rock Cats scored five times on a single, an error, three singles, a double, and another single. All this happened with none out. The double came with the bases loaded from the bat of Reynaldo Rodriguez and drove in two.

FORT MYERS 4, PALM BEACH 1 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars: Kyle Knudson was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Jonathan Goncalves was 2-for-4 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in one. Stephen Wickens was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Pitching stars: Tom Stuifbergen gave up one run on four hits and no walks in 7.2 innings. Corey Williams pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: James Ramsey was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Iden Nazario struck out five in 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits.
Key inning: The eighth. Trailing 2-0, the Cardinals scored on an RBI single by Ramsey to make it 2-1. The Miracle came back with two in the bottom of the eighth. Goncalves tripled in Lance Ray and scored on a single by Knudson.

WISCONSIN 14, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Batting stars: Dalton Hicks and Adam Walker each hit a solo home run.
Pitching star: Chris Mazza pitched a perfect inning.
Opposition stars: Chris McFarland was 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, scoring three times. Jose Sermo was 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk, scoring three times. Tyrone Taylor was 3-for-6 with a home run and four RBIs.
Key inning: The seventh. Leading 3-1, Wisconsin scored six times. Sermo hit a three-run homer and Michael Reed hit a two-run triple in the inning.
