D. J. Baxendale strikes out ten. A grand slam for Adam Brett Walker II. New Britain pulls away late.

TOLEDO 1, ROCHESTER 0 IN TOLEDO

Batting star: Chris Colabello was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Pitching star: Andrew Albers pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and two walks.
Opposition stars: Derek Hankins pitched seven innings, allowing four hits and three walks. Argenis Diaz was 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Key inning: The eighth. It was a scoreless tie. With two out and none out, Brandon Douglas walked and scored all the way from first on a single to right by Diaz. The run came off Tim Wood.

NEW BRITAIN 11, NEW HAMPSHIRE 6 IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Batting stars: Josmil Pinto was 3-for-5 with a double and a three-run homer (his sixth), scoring three times. Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a home run (his fourth) and two walks, scoring three times. Danny Santana was 2-for-5 with a double and a triple, scoring once and driving in two.
Pitching stars: A. J. Achter pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks. Jose Gonzalez pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.
Opposition stars: Sean Ochinko was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Kevin Nolan was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Ryan Schimpf was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored once.
Key inning: The eighth. The Rock Cats trailed 5-4. Pinto and Rodriguez opened the inning with singles. With one out, Santana hit a two-run triple to put New Britain in front and scored on a sacrifice fly to give the Rock Cats a 7-5 lead. They scored four in the ninth to put the game away.

FORT MYERS 7, TAMPA 0 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars: Eddie Rosario was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two. Jonathan Murphy was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Kennys Vargas was 0-for-1 with three walks and scored once.
Pitching stars: D. J. Baxendale struck out ten in seven innings, giving up three hits and no walks. Adrian Salcedo struck out three in two innings, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: Dan Mahoney struck out two in three shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks.
Key inning: The fourth. The Miracle had scored in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead before breaking through with four in the fourth. Murphy and Rosario each contributed an RBI double, Miguel Sano drove in one with a single, and one scored on a wild pitch.

CEDAR RAPIDS 12, SOUTH BEND 4 IN SOUTH BEND

Batting stars: Dalton Hicks was 4-for-5 with a double, scoring three times and driving in one. Adam Brett Walker II was 3-for-5 with a double and a grand slam homer (his seventh), scoring twice and driving in five. Candido Pimentel was 3-for-5 and scored twice.
Pitching star: Manuel Soliman struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up no hits and three walks.
Opposition stars: Ryan Court was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, driving in two. Fidel Pena was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a two-run homer, scoring twice. Pedro Ruiz was 2-for-4 with a double and scored once.
Key inning: The fifth. The Silver Hawks had come back from a 4-0 deficit to tie the score at four. The Kernels opened the inning with singles by Pimentel, Jorge Polanco, and Hicks to load the bases with none out. Walker then hit a rally-killing grand slam to put Cedar Rapids up 8-4. The Kernels had three four-run innings, the first, the fifth, and the ninth.
