Games of June 7

Lots of strikeouts by Red Wings and Lookouts pitchers.  The Kernels lose a see-saw game.  Triples lead the DSL Twins to victory.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 5, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER

The Red Wings scored in the sixth to tie it 1-1, but Gleyber Torres delivered a two-run double in the seventh to take the lead to stay.  The RailRiders added two more in the ninth.
David Hurlbut struck out eleven in 6.2 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk.  Zack Granite had his sixth straight multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a triple.

CHATTANOOGA 7, JACKSON 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

Dan Gamache hit a three-run triple in the third and the Lookouts added another run in the fourth to go up 4-0.  The Generals scored single runs in the fifth and sixth to close to 4-2, but Chattanooga got three more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Felix Jorge struck out nine in 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk.  Raul Fernandez struck out four in 2.1 scoreless innings.  T. J. White was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Gamache was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk.  Edgar Corcino was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk and is batting .305.  Levi Michael was 2-for-5.

TAMPA AT FORT MYERS

Rained out.

CLINTON 9, CEDAR RAPIDS 6 IN CLINTON

Mitchell Kranson hit a two-run double in a three-run Kernel first.  The LumberKings came back with two in the second and three in the fourth to go ahead 5-3.  Jaylin Davis hit a two-run double in the fifth to tie it 5-5.  In the sixth, however, back-to-back two-run doubles by Jhombeyker Morales and Bryson Brigman gave Clinton the lead to stay.  Cedar Rapids got a run in the ninth but did not bring the tying run up to bat.
Sean Poppen, who has pitched very well this year, did not do so in this game, going 4.2 innings and allowing five runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Ryan Mason struck out five in two shutout innings to make his ERA 2.16.  He has 8 strikeouts and 1 walk in 8.2 innings.  The Kernels had only four hits, all of them doubles.  I wonder what the record is for most hits in a game where all your hits were for extra bases.  Jermaine Palacios was 0-for-5 and is batting .319.

DSL TWINS 5, DSL METS1 4 AT TWINS

The Mets1 scored one in each of the first two innings.  Jesus Feliz had an RBI triple and scored in the fourth to tie it 2-2.  In the fifth, Yeltsin Encarnacion hit a two-run triple and later scored to give the Twins a 5-2 lead.  The Mets cut the lead to 5-4 in the eighth and had the tying run thrown out at the plate trying to score from second on a single.  They put two on with one out in the ninth, but did not get the ball out of the infield after that.
Starter Andriu Marin pitched three innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout.  Fredderi Soto pitched three shutout innings.  Frandy Torres pitched a scoreless inning.  Encarnacion was 2-for-3 with a triple.  Estamy Urena was 2-for-3 with a double.
