Anzoategui. Blowouts for Magallanes and
Lara.
LA GUAIRA 6, CARACAS 4 IN LA GUAIRA
Caracas: Felix Perez
(Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer (his fourth), scoring twice. Alex Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with a two-run
homer, his fifth. Yoanner Negrin (Cubs)
pitched 4.1 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk
with one strikeout.
La Guaira: Odubel
Herrera (Philadelphia) was 3-for-5 with a triple and a run. Rene Reyes was 1-for-2 with two walks and a
run. Ramon A. Ramirez pitched four
shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks with two strikeouts.
The game: Perez’
two-run homer tied it in the top of the sixth, but an RBI double by Luis
Sardinas (Texas) keyed a two-run rally by La Guaira in the bottom of the sixth
which gave them a lead they did not relinquish.
Caracas cut the lead to 6-4 in the eighth and had the tying run on base
with none out but did not get a baserunner after that.
ANZOATEGUI 6, MARGARITA 3 IN ANZOATEGUI
Twins: Oswaldo Arcia
was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, his fifth, for Anzoategui.
Margarita: Carlos
Garcia (Kansas City) was 2-for-3 with a double and a run. David Peralta (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a
walk. Wilfredo Ramirez struck out two in
a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.
Anzoategui: Niuman
Romero (Oakland) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice. Mark Serrano struck out five in 5.2 innings,
allowing two runs on five hits and two walks.
The game: Margarita
led 2-1 after three, but Anzoategui scored five in the fifth to take the lead
to stay. Two scored on a wild
pitch-plus-error and Oswaldo Arcia hit a three-run homer in the inning.
MAGALLANES 8, ZULIA 1 IN MAGALLANES
Twins: Ryan O’Rourke
pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout for Zulia.
Zulia: Sandy Leon
(Washington) was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Reegie Corona was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Ramon Garcia struck out two in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up two
hits.
Magallanes: Ronny
Cedeno was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Mario Lisson (Washington) was 3-for-4 with a double and a run. Dustin Richardson struck out seven in five
innings, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk.
The game: It was 1-1
after one, but Magallanes scored four in the third to take control and added
three in the eighth. Cedeno had a
two-run single in the third inning.
LARA 13, ARAGUA 3 IN ARAGUA
Twins: Eduardo
Escobar was 1-for-4 for Aragua. Argenis
Diaz was 0-for-3 for Aragua. Wil Ledesma
pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit with one strikeout for Aragua.
Lara: Paulo Orlando
(Kansas City) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving
in three. Cesar Hernandez (Philadelphia)
was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one. Raul Rivero pitched 5.2 innings, giving up
two runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
Aragua: Willson
Contreras (Cubs) was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his fourth) and a walk. Avisail Garcia (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a
triple and a double. Jon Hunton pitched
1.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit.
The game: Aragua led
2-0 after two, but a pair of sacrifice flies tied it 2-2 in the third and Lara
took the lead with four in the fifth. A
six-run eighth iced the game for Lara.
