Dominican Winter League: Games of November 15

A hit batsman brings home the winning run for Aguilas.  Raul Valdes shuts out Licey.  A big day for Jorge Polanco for Escogido.

AGUILAS 2, ORIENTE 1 IN ORIENTE (12 INNINGS)

Aguilas:  Manny Ramirez (Cubs) was 2-for-5 with a run.  Derek Dietrich (Miami) was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.  Kelvin Villa pitched five shutout innings, giving up four hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Oriente:  Luis Jimenez (Milwaukee) was 3-for-5 with an RBI.  Junior Lake (Cubs) was 1-for-5 with a double and a run.  Evan MacLane pitched six innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Jimenez singled in Lake to tie the score at one in the bottom of the ninth.  In the twelfth, a walk, a single, another walk, and a hit batsman brought home the go-ahead run for Aguilas.

ESTE 2, LICEY 0 IN LICEY

Este:  Cristhian Adames (Colorado) was 3-for-3 with a run.  Raul Valdes (Toronto) struck out ten in a complete game shutout, giving up five hits and a walk.

Licey:  Diory Hernandez was 2-for-4.  Randall Delgado (Arizona) struck out six in six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks.

The game:  Este got both of their runs in the seventh, scoring on a walk, a single, a bunt, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly.  Licey did not get a man past second base.

ESCOGIDO 13, CIBAO 7 IN CIBAO

Twins:  Pat Dean started for Cibao and struck out four in four innings, giving up two unearned runs on five hits and three walks.  Jorge Polanco was 4-for-5 with a walk for Escogido, scoring twice and driving in one.

Escogido:  Melky Mesa (Toronto) was 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs.  Nelson Payano struck out two in two perfect innings.

Cibao:  Wilson Betemit (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Francisco Peguero (Baltimore) was 2-for-5 with a home run, scoring twice.

The game:  Cibao scored five in the fifth to go up 7-2, but Escogido responded with six in the sixth to take a lead they would not relinquish.  They added two in the eighth and three in the ninth to put the game out of reach.
