Oriente scores twice on one hit and it’s enough. A tight game in Escogido. Peguero pegs a win for Cibao.
ORIENTE 2, LICEY 1 IN ORIENTE
Licey: Rymer Liriano
(San Diego) was 1-for-4 with a home run, his second. Jose Valdespina (Cleveland) pitched 1.2 scoreless
innings despite giving up two hits and three walks.
Oriente: Luis Jimenez
(Milwaukee) was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run. Alberto Rosario was 3-for-4. Evan MacLane (St. Louis) pitched six shutout
innings, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts.
The game: In the
Oriente fourth, a hit batsman, a single, and a walk loaded the bases, an error
brought home one run, and another run scored on a double play. The lone Licey run came on Liriano’s homer in
the eighth.
AGUILAS 3, ESCOGIDO 2 IN ESCOGIDO
Twins: Jorge Polanco
was 1-for-4 with a home run for Escogido.
Aguilas: Rafael Ynoa
(Colorado) was 2-for-3 with a home run (his second) and a walk. Kelvin Villa pitched five innings, giving up
one run on one hit and two walks with two strikeouts.
Escogido: Pedro
Ciriaco was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.
Yunior Novoa retired all ten men he faced, six by strikeout.
The game: Jonathan
Villar walked and scored in the fifth to give Aguilas a 2-1 lead. Each team scored once in the ninth and
Escogido had the tying run on third with two out in the bottom of the ninth.
CIBAO 5, ESTE 1 IN CIBAO
Este: Tommy Medica
(San Diego) was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. Christhian Adames (Colorado) was
3-for-4. Austin Bibens-Dirkx (Toronto)
struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks.
Cibao: Garabez Rosa
(Baltimore) was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring twice. Carlos Peguero was 1-for-4 with a double,
scoring once and driving in two. Brooks
Raley (Angels) pitched five innings, allowing one run on eight hits and two
walks with four strikeouts.
The game: Cibao
scored three in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.
Peguero drove in two with a double and the third run was walked in.
