OBREGON 2, LOS MOCHIS 1 IN LOS MOCHIS (10 INNINGS)
Obregon: Carlos
Valencia was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
Corey Wimberly was 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Irwin Delgado struck out six in 5.2 innings,
giving up one run on six hits and four walks.
Los Mochis: Juan
Carlos Gamboa (San Diego) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run. Yancarlo Angulo was 1-for-2 with a double and
two walks. Oscar Verdugo pitched six
innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
The game: Valencia
singled in a run to tie it 1-1 in the seventh.
In the tenth, Albino Contreras singled, took second on a ground out, and
scored on Wimberly’s single.
NAVOJOA 4, HERMOSILLO 1 IN NAVOJOA
Hermosillo: Carlos
Alberto Gastelum was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Sebastian Elizalde (Cincinnati) was
2-for-4. Jesse Estrada retired all ten
men he faced.
Navojoa: Rolando
Acosta was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.
Eliseo Aldazaba was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Eddie Gamboa (Baltimore) struck out eight in
eight innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk.
The game: Two walks
and a hit batsman led to a two-run rally for Navojoa in the third and Aldazaba
had a two-run single in the fifth to give Navojoa a 4-0 lead. The lone Hermosillo run came in the sixth.
MAZATLAN 5, CULIACAN 2 IN MAZATLAN
Twins: Eric Farris
was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Culiacan.
Culiacan: Rico Noel
(San Diego) was 1-for-3 with two walks and a run. Nick Buss (Arizona) was 2-for-4 with a
run. Jesus Castillo pitched a perfect
inning.
Mazatlan: Olmo
Rosario was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk, scoring once and driving in
one. Erick Rodriguez was 1-for-2 with a
walk and a run. Amilcar Gaxiola pitched
seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks with four
strikeouts.
The game: A balk
brought home the go-ahead run in the fifth.
It was 3-2 going to the bottom of the eighth, but Mazatlan added two to
put the game out of reach.
MEXICALI 10, JALISCO 4 IN MEXICALI
Jalisco: Marquez
Smith (Cincinnati) was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer (his ninth) and a walk,
scoring twice. C. J. Retherford was
2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Mexicali: Gil
Velazquez was 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Josh Whitesell was 2-for-4 with a home run
and three RBIs. Edgar Osuna pitched
seven innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
The game: Whitesell
hit a two-run homer in the third to break a 1-1 tie. Mexicali eventually built a 10-1 lead before
Mexicali scored three in the ninth.
