Rulli rules for Perth. Doubles mint a victory for Canberra. A big seventh wins it for Brisbane.
PERTH 4, ADELAIDE 2 IN ADELAIDE
Perth: Nick Rulli was 2-for-4 with a home run and a double, scoring twice. Tim Kennelly (Texas) was 2-for-5 with a home run, his third. Tom Bailey struck out six in 3.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.

The game: A two-run third put Perth ahead 3-0. Adelaide closed to 3-2 after eight and had the tying run on third with one out, but could not tie it up. Rulli’s homer in the ninth provided an insurance run.

Canberra: Alex Hudak (Kansas City) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two. Jason Sloan was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring once and driving in two. A. J. Holland (Atlanta) struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and one walk.

The game: Sydney led 5-0 after five, but a seven-run sixth, including two-run doubles by Hudak and Sloan, put Canberra in the lead to stay. Sydney scored once in the bottom of the sixth to cut the margin to 7-6, but a two-run double by Mitch Walding (Philadelphia) was part of a two-run Sydney seventh that put the game out of reach.
