LA GUAIRA 4, ANZOATEGUI 3 IN ANZOATEGUI
Twins: Oswaldo
Arcia was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run for Anzoategui.
La Guaira: Jose Martinez was 2-for-5 with a two-run
homer, his second. Rene Reyes was
3-for-4 with a walk and a run. Jarrett
Casey (White Sox) retired all seven men he faced, striking out one.
Anzoategui: Niuman Romero (Oakland) was 2-for-4 with a
double and a run. Ramon Rodriguez
(Cleveland) pitched a scoreless inning, allowing a hit and a walk with one
strikeout.
The game: La Guaira trailed 3-2 after six. Odubel Herrera (Texas) homered in the seventh
to tie it and Luis Sardinas’ (Texas) two-out RBI double brought home the
go-ahead run in the ninth.
CARACAS 12, ARAGUA 11 IN CARACAS
Twins: Eduardo
Escobar was 1-for-6 with two RBIs for Aragua. Josmil
Pinto played for Aragua but did not bat.
Argenis Diaz was 3-for-4 with
two doubles for Aragua, scoring twice and driving in four.
Aragua: Teodoro Martinez (Texas) was 4-for-5 with a
triple, scoring twice and driving in one.
David Ramos (Washington) pitched 4.1 scoreless innings, giving up two
hits and a walk with one strikeout.
Caracas: Alex Gonzalez was 5-for-6 with a home run,
scoring once and driving in eight. Henry
Alejandro Rodriguez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-5, scoring once and driving in
three. Manny Corpas (Colorado) pitched
2.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits with one strikeout.
The game: Aragua took a 6-1 lead after two and led 10-4
going to the bottom of the seventh. Caracas
closed to 11-9 going to the bottom of the ninth and then got three runs on five
singles, with Rodriguez driving in two and Gonzalez bringing home the winning
run.
MARGARITA 3, LARA 0 IN LARA
Margarita: Luis Maza (Houston) was 1-for-3 with a walk
and an RBI. Alberto Gonzalez was 1-for-4
with a double and an RBI. Omar Poveda
(Washington) struck out eight in five shutout innings, giving up one hit and
two walks.
Lara: Gabriel Noriega (Seattle) was 2-for-4. Paulo Orlando (Kansas City) was 1-for-3 with
a walk. Terry Doyle (Baltimore) pitched
six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
The game: Margarita scored on a sacrifice fly in the
first, on Gonzalez’ RBI double in the sixth, and on Maza’s RBI single in the
ninth. Lara had five hits and five
walks, stranding nine runners.
