Early runs made the difference in all three games.
ADELAIDE 6, BRISBANE 5 IN ADELAIDE
Twins: Logan Wade was
1-for-3 with an RBI for Brisbane.
Brisbane: Ryan
Battaglia (Cleveland) was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring
once. Granden Goetzman (Tampa Bay) was
1-for-4 with a home run (his fourth) and a walk, scoring twice. Justin Erasmus (Boston) struck out two in 2.1
innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and two walks.
Adelaide: Stefan
Welch (Boston) was 1-for-1 with a two-run homer and two walks, scoring
twice. Angus Roeger was 1-for-4 with a
three-run homer, his second. Kyle Hooper
(Dodgers) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits with one strikeout.
The game: Adelaide
led 5-0 after three innings and then held on.
It was 5-4 after six and a half and Adelaide got the tying run into
scoring position in the ninth.
MELBOURNE 4, SYDNEY 2 IN MELBOURNE
Sydney: Joshua Dean
was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, driving in one. Trent D’Antonio (Miami) was 0-for-2 with two
walks and a run. Vaughan Harris pitched
two perfect innings with three strikeouts.
Melbourne: Kellin
Deglan (Texas) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Josh Davies (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with an
RBI. Cody Buckel (Texas) struck out
twelve in seven innings, allowing an unearned run on four hits and one walk.
The game: Melbourne
scored three in the third, which was as much as they would need. Deglan and Davies each had an RBI single in
the inning.
CANBERRA 9, PERTH 4 IN PERTH
Canberra: Adam Silva
(Yankees) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two. Christian Lopes (Toronto) was 3-for-4 with a
walk, scoring once and driving in one.
Tim Atherton (Oakland) struck out eight in five innings, giving up one
run on five hits and two walks.
Perth: Allan de San
Miguel (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Brian Pointer (Philadelphia) was 1-for-3 with
a double and a walk, scoring once. Liam
Baron struck out three in three innings, allowing one run on three hits and two
walks.
The game: Canberra
scored five in the first and never led by less than four. Robbie Perkins (Colorado) had a two-run
single to cap the first inning.
